Recommended Posts

This virus didn't just happen here.

It was brought.

And here's us on an Island within an Island.

On the Guardian live blog today

Not gonna happen here :)

There should be more happening here in other areas as well. Follow Germany and prevent anyone from being evicted for not paying rent in the next three months (anyone, not just public housing). Suspend utility bills. ManxGas has robbed this island blind for years. It's time they put something back.

There was a no-eviction thing brought in in the emergency powers last friday.

Manx gas's only regret is this didn't happen three months ago!

The ICU case is "recovering" too which is great news.

Actually "stable", which can be a world of difference.

Might be a lot of people struggling to pay their rates this year too if this goes on for as long as some are predicting.

Evictions disallowed for 3 months: http://www.tynwald.org.im/links/tls/SD/2020/2020-SD-0191.pdf

Utilities already announced no one will get cut off for Covid-19 reasons, including Manx Telecom and Sure.

Treasury Minister mentioned this at his briefing yesterday.

Tynwald sitting to today, manx radio have stated they are going to pull the Emergency Powers Amendment Bill.

Wonder what has made them do this ?

The Keys and Legco sittings have been canceled. Amendments would require these to amend, Legco to approve, Keys to pass??? Could be the reason?

I can well imagine them putting them up.

"The Minister also noted that most positive results in the island are coming from people aged between 19 and 35, dispelling the idea that Covid-19 only affects the elderly."

...that doesn't bode well...the last major group to go into isolation only last week...the implications of which will only appear in a couple more weeks.

This is good news as this age group will be the most robust to fight it off, develop antibodies and get the economy back up and running quicker.

Don't be too optimistic! The current spread amongst the young could be transfer within the family who are all at home isolating?

Older people tend to live alone or as a 2. Not like family groups of 4. If one of the older person gets infected, then the spread amongst older people, who are more medically susceptible to complications, will be more serious.
