Ďouglas Peel
Good news for a change! South Korean boffins today, said that the chance of catching Corona virus twice,is very remote.Given how they have done so well during this pandemic, that makes me happy, especially as me and the wife have done 300,000 mostly trouble free miles in their Hyundai cars. That said, we fell out with the garage, when clutch noises were dismissed at 4 years and six months into a 5 year warranty, so im on the fence with this . Golfer
It's only 1 and they've been self isolating so who cares, maybe one of the repatriated lot? Edited May 1, 2020 by Golfer
hissingsid
Probably is one of the moaning lot who were repatriated, they should say and then perhaps the ones who thought they were being over the top with precautions would shut up. 3
Kopek
More likely a 'Key Worker' as DA wouldn't answer that question, lest it identify the person!

Not according to the newspaper report: Quote Mr Ashford said of the seven new cases in the last three days, two had a link to Abbotswood, one had a travel history and had been self-isolating at home, one was a hospital admission and one had a link to another case. But he said the remaining two were in the community and contact tracing had not revealed an obvious link to other cases. Which presumably means they were one of the 'key workers' being brought over. But that does rather raise the question of what the 'key workers' are being brought over for. In this case it can't be someone from across for a particular physical task as they have a home on the Island and you would want such people to start immediately (suitably shielded). So it looks like that if you are the 'right' person you can avoid paying for Colditz Comis and just self-isolate responsibly.

Presuming that the majority of these workers are 'HealthWorkers' then there is a mutual benefit to each of us? If any of these workers of of lesser importance to ourselves or the UK. , then that has to be questioned as to their continued key worker status. No one has yet questioned DA as to the status of these K-workers, are they health and so important? or are they business and less important??? DA's reluctance to say if one of the new contaminatees was key or other because of 'identifying' that person is rubbish, it hinges on the reliance of the 'commercial confidentially', so often use as an excuse to not reveal Govt failures or explain the actual facts of the case. If it were a key worker, there are hundreds of them, a returnee, there are a hundred or so of them, it is illogical to differentiate between the two!!! Sadly we ain’t going to get the truth out of HRH The Chief Minister and The Chief Letter Opener! It’s putting the island at risk again while playing fantasy politics, or following ‘the clinicians’ advice’. It should be noted that HRH The Chief Minister in one of his pompous speeches, spouted, how he and his chimps, are looking closely at the repatriation arrangements. It thought it was a result of many the complaints of the many OTT antics relating to the service delivery and security at the COMIS. Perhaps if the figures of infection continue to grow or don’t level out, this will be down to incompetence and collusion at the highest level. Wilson
Well the truth is when Howard shut the borders pronto at the height of infection levels then that huge rush brought it in to the Island. You know using public transport , flying etc all the shit we were told not to do then have to or we’d be toast. I followed the advice of the foreign office and , I have seen it and can post the IOM cabinet office even after borders shut is to stay where you are unless you are in dire circumstances. Main point is there , why do we have a cabinet office? They are useless , but saying that so are the Foreign & Colonial Office who actually outdo the IOM cabinet office in sheer impotence and general uselessness.
