I don't understand how returnees have "close contacts" at all. Surely they are supposed to be completely isolated. And presumambly that includes everyone working on the boat.

How is that even possible though?

You can't have Steam Packet staff in permanent isolation.

Paul Moulton was right to break this news. He, like us, knows that last time the news was kept from us for longer than it should have been. We’ve been crying out for investigative journalism for years and now we’ve got it he’s getting slated for it? Behave

The borders have always been our weakest point. Anyone can see that. Why our government are taking a ‘My First Tomy’ approach to a global pandemic is anyone’s guess but they’ve already burned their bridges on that one.  Even we mere mortals have picked up glaring loopholes in policy before they have come back to bite us on the ass and no doubt will continue to do so.

By chance, I was at Tesco at 8am this morning and there were lots of gaps on the shelves due to the boats not going. So yes, there will be panic.

Go home, wash your clothes, have a bath/shower, stay home, save lives and watch while our glorious leaders stumble and spin their way through this latest shitstorm that they should have seen coming  They are supposed to be our ‘elite’ with the best advisors to hand - god help us. Get your Howie swimsuit on and get ready to sit it out

Unless there’s unknown community cases there should be no lockdown, just ridiculous to even consider one. Probably getting pushed by public sector who want another few weeks on full pay at home.

Oh shut your face for Christ’s sake. For one, the public sector have been working all through the lockdowns and for two, get rid of that bloody chip off your shoulder. It’s weighing you, and us down.

Rox, we clearly have different views for what constitutes investigative journalism. Dickhead has simply tweeted something he was told and will say that any panic is the Government's fault. It is simply lazy journalism and he's probably at home know knocking one out over the number of retweets he's getting. Definitely not investigative in any way.

Lord knows what daft decisions have been made on advice.  Advice depends on the question asked and if you get conflicting advice are you forgiven for following the wrong advice?

The Trump documentary last night was very interesting.  After Iran shot down a US drone the NSC  precisely followed the model decision-making process and resolved that a targeted attack on Iranian military targets was justified.

Trump cancelled it within minutes of launch because an unnamed lawyer came to him and raised doubts about possible Iranian fatalities.   So, all the experts, following the exact protocols were overruled by a decision outside of those protocols.

To be fair it is usually the government that causes panic through their inaction and incompetence in certain situations. They have a knack for blaming the journos or the man next door or anybody else they can think of except themselves.
