I agree that genomics would prove a link, or not, but I don’t think it would inform the decision to lock down.

All it might do, in the circumstances that it’s 2 or 3 transmissions along from the index SPCo case is allow the daft suggestion that its part of the cluster and thus NOT community transmission. That then allows no lockdown and no action or other measures to be justified.

They're non explained cases. They should be treated as community transmissions until proved otherwise. That doesn’t mean automatic lock down. Certainly not for 3 weeks.

The circumstances around that link will inform whether there is a lockdown.

By the IOMG's own definition, we worry when there are cases with unexplained links. If genomics can explain those links, the situation may not be as bad as first thought. Unexplained links were the criteria for going into and coming out of lockdown last time.

If it can't explain the links, or suggests a chain of multiple transmission, we know we need to make more significant changes to our current approach.

It’s a bit early for Dilli to be on the wine and iPad mixer. Must be the pubs are shut.

We can all take positives from the current situation. Just think of how much money we're not directly or indirectly giving H&B. 😂

That’s a strange reply really. As what I seemed to hear was a millionaire paid £80k a year by the taxpayer tell many people on £8.50 an hour that they won’t get paid this weekend if the companies they work for decide to voluntarily not need their services following an government announcement to stay at home that has no validity in law.

Strange because you don’t agree with private businesses making their own decisions. Given they haven’t said where the affected areas are, do you want to be that one person that helped spread it further. For one day, I know we took the correct decision as did a good number of hospitality businesses

Private businesses exist to make money. Most can’t afford to pay staff to stay at home if no compensation is going to be forthcoming.
