Damn them all.

They all bought in to collective responsibility and so collective accountability comes into play.

This morning on MR he said about the decision not to test SP crew after their request that it was easy to be wise in hindsight.  It wasn't hindsight as many were saying they should be tested, but that fell on deaf ears. So the platitude trotted out should have been more along the lines of "there are none so blind as those who will not see".

Exactly. Succinctly put in bold. They all thought they knew better.

It's less the politicians that need to be held to account (IMHO), the general elections do that,

Not if they plan to not stand for re-election.

Until we develop a better system of Government I don't think we will ever see political accountability. There are too many places to hide, and too many people in that same boat.

Despite the current appearance of tearing themselves apart (which is slightly unedifying to be honest) they all operate under the same "safety rules" of not really calling each other out. Of those staying, everyone wants to get back in and they are looking to the horizon to see who they should be 'sucking up to" in preparation for greater things if do they get reelected (ie potential CM's).

(Inside money seems to be on Allinson by the way - and he is probably watching for people he can rely on).

Spot on.

The GE is not accountability as even if they stand for re-election it will be "big boy did it, and ran away".

“anti-Asian” implications.

Really?

Or are they simply trying to put pressure on ethnic & diverse British citizens who haven’t been comfortable taking up the vaccination offer?

I’m not buying this Government is inherently racist, that little witch Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, is of Indian descent!

Well you're completely out of touch , either that or it doesn't suit your agenda .

You don’t agree that Priti Patel is a nasty little gerrymandering witch?

You must be a Tory donor. There is no other explanation.

And so it begins.

Loads of people travelling on the promise of short isolation.

So surely there will be a simple, scalable and robust, clearly communicated way to get those additional tests booked and processed as quickly and conveniently as possible. Right?

Yes that’s a load of bollocks accusing them of anti Asian, the vaccine minister is also of Asian descent I think.

Hmm , let's look at this - does "Boris Johnson" and "letter box"  ring any bells in that strange little world of yours?

Have they fixed the wifi on the boat then?

Just docking and have got one of those fancy fangled contracts that means your phone works even when more than 20 miles from MTHQ

We thought it would not affect us when it was all kicking off in China.

Well, the other SARS outbreaks suggested there was probably nothing to worry about.... which makes you wonder if COVID was actually "manufactured" and accidentally made it out into the Wuhan locale.

Despite the WHO report I reckon there's probably a couple of scientists in the team still harbouring doubts that it actually started in the wet market.

The entirely trustworthy Dominic Cummings is completely shitting all over Boris and Hancock today.

We need someone from the inside who isn't an odious lying prick to speak up here too.

...and as well as lockdown 3, it should look at the lack of testing causing lockdown 2...and, to be frank, why some of the 'lessons learned' from lockdown 1 needed to be classed as 'lessons learned' when in a pandemic they should have been classed as 'commonsense'. And how UK mistakes we're simply just followed here sometimes. Not that there wasn't a previous pandemic to learn from either.

I've been warching the Cummings Circus but got bored with the fact he's not saying anything new really.

Not sure about the Chair though. A questioner asked about the "bodies piled high" comment and it seemed to me the Chair deliberately moved on before it could be answered.

Given that the 'other SARS outbreak' killed 10% of those it infected, I don't think anyone thought it was nothing to worry about, especially not in China and nearby countries where most of the deaths happened.
