Double jabbed or not..... no vaccine is 100% effective. Why is it that even clever people can't see that? And there's always (to coin an Americanism) a backstory to each death.

Well its the same type of people who don’t realise 90% efficiency is still 1 in 10, it’s just 90% sounds better than 1 in 10.

I see Dr Glover is now suggesting it’s like playing Russian Roulette, apparently 50% of deaths from the virus in the UK have been people who were double vaccinated, 1 in 10 are still likely to be seriously ill, survival of the fittest continues.

In a situation where 100% of the population are vaxxed, then all deaths from covid will have been vaxxed. It’s an obvious truth and one that shouldn’t be used to suggest that the vaccine is ineffective or that we shouldn’t be relaxing restrictions.

She seems to be the only person with any sort of independent view left, I really admire her and I would trust her advice long before I would trust Ashfords or Quayle’s, unfortunately sheeple will disagree as they will only act when/if they’re told to do so.

She seems to have a fine balance of common sense and intelligence, a lot to be admired for I think.

This is starting to feel like Life Of Brian again

The messiah sketch BTW

You repeatedly misunderstand the science and what the numbers mean. Perhaps you should consider refraining from spouting nonsense.

And don't forget many many people die with a positive test result against them (in the last 28 days) of other things......very often...regardless of how many jabs they have had.

But don't forget many many more people die of COVID rather than with COVID....very often... Regardless of how many jabs they have had.

From today's news - "Mr Watterson is advising islanders to consider wearing face masks when they are inside a busy building."

Hasn't done the situation in England much good has it?

You mean they die "with" Covid rather than "of" covid of course.

Would it be fair to say that politically you have often tended towards the slightly more bullish side with respect to the relaxation of restrictions. That to me has long seemed both a political and a medical issue, with opinion seemingly often closely reflecting people's wider political and economic perspectives (the extreme end of that spectrum being occupied by the kind of freedom - kooks who write here about "face nappies" etc).

Related to that - what progress do you see with respect to this previous idea? Where would you say that Britain is up to now with respect to herd immunity, 7 months on?

A (very rough) calculation suggests to me that if the UK carry on as they are they'll have herd immunity in about 6 weeks.

Nobody is suggesting the vaccine is ineffective, the issue is the message being sent out that if you’ve had both  vaccines you’ll be absolutely fine, yes you have higher protection, but it’s not 99.9% effective, its thought to be 90% effective.

As for restrictions, well that’s ongoing, we’re back to trial and error. I personally preferred the model of mirroring the UK about 2/3 weeks behind as it gave us a bit of a buffer, right now it does feel like survival of the fittest.

Look on the bright side. Thailand has made it law to wear masks on public transport and also banned talking on there too !

This is like de ja vu island goes in to over kill on rumour and government will give an update tomorrow at 4pm.  Why can’t they just have clear communication now and nip things in the bud.

Ego: it has to be delivered by Quayle.

What? Mask wearing?

There’s a pre-print study referenced here that suggests they go a long way as part of a package of sensible measures.
