This is so true. His arrogance at the last briefing was astounding. Why answer medical and public health questions as if you are the leading expert on such things, and then hand over to the token professional for them to stroke your ego? Although I was pleased to see Dr Ewart correct him over the third vaccine v booster error.

Our health minister’s assumption of omnicogniscence is frightening.

Only a fool thinks he knows everything.

Aw, Howard's on his farewell tour of the UK, bidding fondest goodbyes to others of the great and good throughout the country with tales of our covid strategy derring-do. It's all there...

Makes us proud so he does.

During lockdown 1 when we all knew fook all he seemed quite a reassuring presence but now we have a bit of knowledge as to what is happening he has been shown for the gobshite he is.

He needs to stop using data protection as an excuse to not answer any questions he doesn't like as well.

Less transmissible than SARS-Cov-2. Some professionals have expressed concern that 18 months of social distancing and mask wearing might have lowered the population immunity and are predicting a pretty substantial return. See also RSV.

That's the thing with some viruses, you catch them all the time which counterintuitively actually keeps you safe.

Most sensible virologists and epidemiologists not connected to government funding were saying exactly this at the time but were stonewalled.

You don't beat a pandemic by locking people away, that only extends it.

I am fairly sure that at the briefing , Ashie said "exasperated" instead of "exacerbated".

How fairly sure are you that he used the wrong word ? 80, 90%?

And more pertinently how on earth does it matter as you along with others managed to grasp the meeting? (sorry, I meant meaning) ?

Off with his head!

Well no, but it is symptomatic of the intellect we have had controlling us for the past while.

Everyone makes mistakes, particularly when speaking in public.  However, the bright ones know immediately and acknowledge their error, usually by some humour, the not so bright ones don't even notice.

For those who in the face of all evidence remain worried about their kids contracting the virus may I direct you to this thread and the report contained therein

Except that's not really about Long Covid but medium-term persistence of symptoms after infection.  It's still encouraging for the under-12s, but most other groups do show problems.
