April last year there was very little available testing, hence fewer cases. Look at the increase in excess deaths however and you’ll see April last year was twice as bad as last winter’s wave.

Correct. At that time Nightingale hospitals were being set up all over the place for fear of the NHS being overwhelmed. If omicron is really as bad and vaccine evading as we are being lead to believe, and there is fear of the NHS being overwhelmed again, why are they not setting up Nightingale hospitals again? In fact, they are taking more NHS staff out of hospitals to increase booster jabs. It really does not make sense.

I would put money on being below or similar to you and several others over four weeks.

Anyway.  I am hearing reports of more measures being likely and a possible briefing today/tomorrow.  I really hope not.

You sound ridiculous if you believe that. Plus Roxanne  sounds intelligent and has a great sense of humour. 😉

"A spokesperson says no change in policy is expected". I take that as continuing with a watching brief. There is no reason to push the panic button. Remember Alf hasn't any Covid xmas parties to distract us from.

Figures won’t lie, but I doubt anyone will show them and I can’t be arsed trying to work it out.

Let's just say that according to your profiles, Roxanne has made 2.4 K posts since she joined MF  on 28 June 2006.  You've made 1.7 K posts since you joined MF on 14 July 2021.  That's quite a difference in posting rate.

But you're still getting the attention you crave...

To be fair, we all do a bit of that. It’s human nature. I also like the exchange with certain (most) posters on here. It gives me a buzz - a warm fuzzie if you will. So it’s not just about attention.

But it’s deffo got an agenda.
