Well they’re a former prison colony. They probably did the same as us. Locked down and told everyone else to piss off even if they originally came from the island and wanted to get back.

Even more incredibly it’s been achieved without awarding their health minister an accolade.

Can you guys start a separate thread titled "Jersey is ace - oh no it isn't" and leave this one to a discussion on IOM and the coronavirus?

It's a safe place right now because of the Manx people, not the Manx politicians. None of us want to be "the person who brought it back" so we isolate and make sure we don't transmit the virus by bein

Ratio of admissions to deaths is not that different, testing is obviously out due to the massive capacity increase like just about everywhere in the world.    The current UK situation is impact

They’ve averaged 1 Covid death per day since June haven’t they?

They are locking down a country on the back of that.

This is MENTAL now!!!!!!!!!!

What in Gods name is happening to the minds of once reasonable & sane people?

Well now we know who is responsible for all those crashes on the Mountain.  Some people clearly don't believe in applying the breaks until the car actually goes off the road.

If you want to see why Ireland is having to lock down again you only have to look at the number of cases:

If anything that tells you they have left it too late.

But you said all travel there was banned which was bollocks as normal with your posts. Non eu travelers are banned across Europe.

You just made that up. Go back and read my post. It says nothing about all travel. Meanwhile, flights from all over the world are landing in the uk and most of Europe.

That’s low even from you screaming Covid-Mary. You said all travel to Sweden was banned. That was a complete unadulterated LIE. The population of the EU is 450,000,000 people all of whom can travel to Sweden, then you have the UK and the EEA countries on top. Then the rest of the world is only restricted to non-essential travel. They can still travel for business and family reasons. So how on earth do you equate over half a billion people currently being able to potentially travel to Sweden as a travel ban? You are literally crackers in your increasingly insane attempts to try to justify your general hysteria and bonkers lockdown agenda.

So 0.5 billion can travel there. 7.5 billion cannot. Those same 7.5 billion can still travel to Europe though, where there is not a travel ban. Do you understand what a travel ban is? We have one over here. It is working very well. You can even go out for a pint and discuss it with your friends, if you have any.

My post never said "All travel". That is a LIE FROM YOU.

Credit to Guernsey, they announced the case in a clear restrained press release.

Our CM would have called another vainglorious press conference to ramp up the public concern.

I think 'the great reset' makes it sound like there's some global grand elite conspiracy underway. It sounds far better than 'how can we fix our broken systems in a sustainable way' at the expense of being something the conspiracy theorists can jump on.

Realistically, from a balanced perspective, the situation has highlighted elements that were unsustainable and how aspects like working from home can allow companies to continue quite happily in a lot of cases, whilst reducing pollution in a lot of the big centres.

With the shift away from the 'bums on seats' principle in an office, the local economy surrounding that shifts, and if more people are working remotely or more flexibly, they have to account for the shifts too.

It's very easy to brand an economic shift and some big evil mean conspiracy, and for people struggling with the current situation, it's something nice and easy to latch on to.

It's quite literally called The Great Reset by the World Economic Forum. There's no conspiracy.

Has anyone looked at Tasmania? they appear to have got act together and kept covid at bay, around 515K population and only  230 cases 217 recovered and 13 deaths. Now that is an achievement by my measure!

That's pretty much what they did do - and continue to do.  The restrictions are actually  a bit tighter than ours.  Of course they have the advantage that their nearby 'big island' managed things rather better than ours as well.

You do get the feeling he'd love another drama. He created quite the Emperor feel about the grandiose press conferences, even though he blathered his way through them unconvincingly.

It worked rather well for us...

My point is that people are acting as though it is some form of great conspiracy. Realistically, it's a sinister name for a consideration of how to move forward as automation continues to change world dynamics. It's not anything new and has been considered for decades. Look at how the world of the future looked in the 60s.

He always sounds to me like he's reading children's stories with the cadence of his speeches. Very 'Good morning children, you all get a gold star for being well behaved when this very nasty virus is outside our island. We have to shut ourselves away from the Big Bad Virus and stay very safe'.

The snap press conference when we had the first case in a while here said everything I think, it didn't need to happen on a Sunday. Press release, and maybe a discussion of it on the monday.

yet another who can't follow the rules. Do people still think returning students will adhere to them?

I'm pretty sure my son will.  I'd imagine most if not all returning students are coming back to their parents - would they not be ensuring compliance, for fear of jail/criminal record?
