IOM Covid removing restrictions

Apparently the briefing for tomorrow has been moved to 7:55 in the morning.  You can't help feeling that this is just another stupid piece of self-importance.  If something really is that urgent it should be done tonight.

As with the UK we seem to be run by a bunch of clowns who think the way to deal with anything is to find a form of words to cover it up and that will make it magically disappear.

OK. For what it's worth I'm going to try and explain why genomics is important in a ssRNA virus epidemic. No doubt it will end up being recited badly at a briefing, but, well, whatever. You read it he

You using VPN and it’s time zone converting. Says 3:55 to everyone else.

Not on a VPN, just not logged into Facebook.  They've obviously set it up assuming you are - not a good idea if you're using open accounts that anyone can browse for communication.

Still it saves us all from the sight of Howie in his nightshirt (Gef will be sad).

Giving those clowns more power is not a good idea.

Considering our Minister for Policy and Reform is a total bell-end that’s worrying. Where was the public debate around this?

Well, let's look at things from Howie's perspective.

They're not community cases if you pass them on to people known to you, that's friendly transmission, not community, and the figures don't have a category for that.

And if you takeaway the number you first thought of, you get nil community cases.

We can only hope that this doesn't trigger a bout of hysteria that will only be quelled with extreme measures.   As most sensible people have been saying, let's have honesty and openness.  That way people's expectations can be managed rather than reassuring everyone that we are covid free by some artful manipulation, and will stay that way.
