GillR
A handful of MHKs/MLCs (Maska, Sharpe, Peake, Edge, Pool-Wilson) announced they will not take a 2.75% wage increase due to the current situation, waiting to see if the rest follow suit..... Edge saying she’s even happy to take a cut....... Don’t think all need to though - some are working more than others... Wondering if it will actually happen!
quilp
It's just an unmitigated virtue-signalling gesture. How much will be "saved" enough for 100 boxes of gloves and aprons? And when this crisis is somehow being 'managed' will they get it all back-dated? They'd do better giving that measly amount directly to the homeless charity, foodbank or women's refuge, some cause which needs it. However, those who don't contribute in the same manner should be mercilessly harangued. Catch 22 for the Houghton types.

the stinking enigma
It handily steers conversation away from taking a 30% pay cut for the duration.

You are talking here about a bunch of self-centered shysters who voted to make the disabled pay for their parking whilst retaining free parking for themselves. Tells you all you need to know about the "honourable" members... 7

Ha ha... giving a 20 - 30% pay cut will still leave certain MHKS and the majority of MLCs in the ‘overpaid’ category.. useless lot! But this is manx politics- like a bunch of kids trying to play grown ups...

PaulJ
They don't have to take a pay rise. Increase expenses and annual bonus/merit awards. They don't count as rises
Golfer
There's lots of PCS workers on more than MHKs and they shouldn't be getting the pay rise either! How much will this inflation busting rise add to wage bill when finances are severely depleted by crisis, absolute madness agreeing this!! I work in the sector that's going to be shut down the longest. I'm trying keep the wolf from the door, and that damn black dog keeps sniffing around too. A further one of mine would be that few people would / will be willing to sign that petition in their own name as they know exactly what will happen the way the IOM works. That’s why this forum seems to be full of anonymous whingers berating government for absolutely anything but the minute people have to put their real names to anything it’s clearly a different matter hence back to your original reply. Government will just carry on regardless. Ironically spending all the money you gave them on pay rises and other uplifts for themselves. Edited April 26, 2020 by Grayson ....
