So are they having the TT holiday and then going back until they break up for summer.   If you do not want your child to return until September that is ok you will not be in any trouble I bet a lot of kids will not be going back until September.

Even a lot of the kids going back are only doing one day a week as it stands.

How do you know that has there been some sort of news release?  We have heard nothing from our boys school at all.   Although I was there last week and the car park was rammed full so obviously a lot of teachers in at the school

A lad I work with has two girls and he told me.

Seemingly it'll be one day a week.  Class divided into five basically.

The whole school situation is a farce.  They should all be back completely as normal post TT week break.  It's impractical to try and socially distance.   The corridors in Ballakermeen are 1.3m wide.

I still can't believe they're just taking the whole summer off too! I've not been able to work while my two have been off, there maybe a slim chance they'll go back for a week or two and then BAM!!! We're on holiday for 6 more fucking weeks.

You'd think they would at least compromise and say "Look your children have missed a 1/3 of their school year so we'll cut the summer break to 3 weeks snd give your children an education."

My savings are running out.

Government employed people don't think that way!

It’s an extension of the same problem. There seems to have been little effort applied so far to support parents or do virtual classes and it’s so unionized they don't seem to care about your income (or lack of it) they only care about theirs and as they’ve been paid right through even if they’ve done nothing, all they’re going to see is an excuse to do nothing until September. Fully paid by mugs like you and me. There is no way we can kickstart the economy if people are stuck with childcare issues for another 4 months so things are going to drag on months longer than they are already. They should just be told to go back to work and if you don’t want to you’re on furlough until September at £280 a week. Surprisingly things would all of a sudden start to happen in that situation.

It's utterly retarded. We're down to 1 confirmed case of corona. It's not going to magically appear from nowhere in schools if they reopened.

I agree. The social distancing rules are slowly breaking down and the longer it goes on without a new case the more that will be the case. Many appear to be now ignoring the formal rules and just applying what they see as common sense although I have seen many examples of people just acting as normal when out on the odd cycle ride. I see groups of kids of kids and youths playing or meeting up out of site of their parents.

It is very hard to tell my kids they can not do X or Y when it is very obvious to them others are doing the same. We should all as a matter of good practice continue to practice good hygiene, social distance (maybe a meter) but if we get no more cases in the next couple of weeks all kids should be allowed by in school after the holidays and they should be allowed to meet up and play.

This is my point your mate told you about his kids going in one day a week.  Why is one school telling people what they are doing but others are not?

is it so hard for the minister of education to just tans behind his special podium and say “this is what is happening”

It's too early to say that...80% of people on cruise ships who tested positive for covid showed no symptoms (asymptomatic). It could still be clustered under the radar here for now, especially in group(s) of younger people.

And, despite borders being 'closed' there are still people travelling back and forward to the UK - which will only increase as hospital appointments across start to get back to 'normal'.

Frequent and regular testing (and retesting) and tracing - and isolation and social distancing - are with us for the duration until a vaccine.

This disease relies on complacency to spread.
