The Dog's Dangly Bits
It wasn't bandied about as a number being given to people.

You're right, it was £60M out of £300M. Alf Cannan, iomtoday article, 21st May 2020. Still available.
The Dog's Dangly Bits
Didnt that package of measures include the costs of VAT and Tax delays?

I think the encouraging thing was they they were tooling up for a big hit and seemed prepared to pay it. I’d bet the bulk has probably gone to hospitality and retail sectors. The Dog's Dangly Bits
I agree. The biggest actual cost isn't paying people out. It's the loss of tax and Vat revenues along with delays in those too.

When this all kicked off he said they would commit 600 million to see us through the next six months.
Non-Believer
"Originally envisaged cost of all support schemes £300M for first quarter. Actual sum paid out £60M. 650 applications disallowed." I find it hard to believe that all those 650 were defaulters on previous tax and contributions though. As per previous post, there appears to be a narrow window of eligibility for some. So self-employed, bespoke metal widget-makers got nowt because bespoke metal widget makers simply weren't on the Govt's recognised list of self-employed. Yes but I think part of that was underwriting VAT and tax lost so it was in effect money needed to pay themselves as well as they will have a massive budget deficit on top of what they’re going to have to pay out. It wasn’t all money for “us”. I think non-believer is right it was a projected £300M for the first quarter. The Dog's Dangly Bits
They were estimates in a situation they've never seen before and would have no guidance as to impact. It'll be another 6 months before the true cost is known. Hence they'll be in Tynwald next month to get approval for the 250m loan.

Nomadic Raptor
Allison has said this morning that schools open on 15th June hub kids will return to their schools on 17th. Then kids in school years 2,6,10 and 12 from week beginning 22nd. Then rest of kids phased in. With summer holidays due end of July almost seems pointless phasing in all other kids as surely some will only get about 2 weeks. so what’s the point?
