I will not be joining her pity party, she is so fucking thick she will not admit she was not fit for purpose as Health Minister, and done has nothing but snipe at everything that was going on.   Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Or back into operation, I do wonder what some staff have been doing since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak?

As the Health Minister Ashie has said he is very cautious, baby steps and all that!

The problem with that is that it is building up massive problems for the future, a huge backlog of appointments and people with deteriorating ailments who may never recover. I think we will lose more people in the wake of Covid-19 than from the actual pandemic!

I heard grumblings last week about her abandoning the constituancy prior to lock down.

Allegedly she left the Island before the borders closed so that she could have access to medical treatment if needed and has not returned.

Don't know if it is true, and sympathise if requires specialist treatment, but so did other people.

But the irony is that during lockdown it wouldn't matter where she was.  If you can't deal with constituents and people in government etc face-to-face and have to communicate via phone calls, e-mails, videocalling and so on, then where you are located doesn't make much difference.  So she was providing just the same service as every other MHK could under the circumstances

Meetings of Tynwald and the Keys were all virtual and she seems to attended most of those, asking questions and so on.  She hasn't attended any since they wen't 'live' again (though one she attended 'virtually') so it may be that she has to self-isolate for medical reasons.  That could explain why she is stepping down now rather than just not standing again in 2021 (which is what I expected would happen).

It's an expensive gamble for a chance of a years sitting to have to spend it all over again in twelve months. General cost of materials etc is c.£4k a time.

also, who's giving up a good job to do it?

You could do worse. I podcast with Michael, and whereas he is a bit too liberal for me, he’s switched on enough and can hold an argument well.

what podcast do you do?

So no need to resign until after lockdown.

Well said Sid.

I have heard that Ms Beecroft/Costain has been off island for a while, having medical treatment. Apparently she doesn’t trust the Manx Health Service or Nobles. Hardly a ringing endorsement is it. She is entitled to do what she pleases and pay for medical treatment. Unfortunately some of her constituents can’t get good medical treatment or dental treatment, whilst she is in a position to do so.

But patients were able to get off Island for treatment and return all the way through lockdown. That was NHS and private.

Sometimes you may not want to do that, or treatment might be too frequent to make it practical. Or you might not want to expose yourself to Covid risk by travelling frequently.

There were times during my 6 months of twice a week chemo in Liverpool that I thought of renting a serviced apartment. DHSC would only Contribute £175 a week. The flights and taxis cost DHSC over  £700 a week. No common sense.

Does that mean that the 250 or more people who normally fly away every week for hospital treatment don't trust the Manx Health Service? No, it means that we don't offer the  treatment on the island for one reason or another! Some people are still flying away for treatment during the Covid period.

Fucks-sakes, yet another seething, jealous diatribe. Was Nobles hospital able to provide the treatment she required? You don't know, I don't know, only she knows...

Stop making things up and delighting on her suffering for your own ends.

I know nothing of her treatments, nor do I want to it is her private business.   My rejoicing comes from her record of inability to work with others, several MHKs resigned from her department. Her treatment of Ramsey cottage hospital, stopping meals on wheels, limiting pensioners free time on Island travel etc.   She may have had a few good points but they were lost because she banged on so much about every thing and anything to the extent that people tuned out as soon as they heard her voice.   When she was removed she whined about for weeks and is still going on about the flowers Howard bought her.   She is a very bitter woman and it is not attractive.

It is interesting how quickly this thread veered off onto the future of the constituency and its MHKs.  Saint Kate is a non-entity who has achieved nothing other than alienating almost everyone that she has ever met.  There was a certain pantomime fun associated with her Tynwald appearances (similar to Peter Karran, who he?) but, to quote the bard, it was full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

She claims successes, but her memory doesn't seem to serve her well.  24 Hour stroke thrombolysis came in during the Boy Vampire's time.  Diabetic retinopathy is a condition, so I hope that she didn't introduce it - but the consultation asking if we should have screening for it here didn't even start until just before the bunch of flowers.  As for consolidating endoscopy services - don't forget the scandal on her watch that it was wrapped in - the 'forgetting' of hundreds of patients who weren't followed up.  As for the items of serious patient safety, she doesn't say what they were - so who knows?

A bitter, twisted person having a last squeak before complete obscurity.

BTW - the mere fact of being ill doesn't stop a bad person being bad.

It may upset your aggressive onslaught of personal character assassination of Kate (which makes ALL of it unacceptable). But I met her in business meetings on quite a few occasions, found her to be honest, and with the 'locals' best interest at heart.

She had a reasonably good grasp of just what had gone very, very badly wrong with our '1,000 years of self (interest) government'  and simply, maybe a bit naively, wanted an opportunity to seek change.

But just look at what she and any newcomer,  irrespective of genre comes up against, but especially a woman.

MHK's and a CS historically only really interested in Governments 'best interests' and the usual 'closing ranks' practice, (SNAFU,) with  their personal, political well being.

Would you or any other 'honourable, honest' IOM citizen have fared any better?

Pete Karran was the best so far in highlighting the inequalities  of our 'system of government'.

IOMG, honest and fair, doubtful.

But.....that same government did us proud (unbelievably so) with their handling of the Covid19  situation. So credit were it is justifiably due!!!

A fight off between Josem, Moore, and H M Sole would be well worth following.

I'd almost be prepared to pay to see that
