I have a bit of a feeling that many of the women who were clapping Howard on Tynwald Day were wearing their Howard cossy under their Tynwald Day finery.

By ‘finery’ do you mean straitjackets?

They were a PR or Advertising company and gave it a fair crack of the whip but then back end of 2019 it just wasn't working out for them so they seemed to let it slide. It's not everyone's cup of tea

I can't help but wonder how many millennials/members of Gen Z were clamouring for a nostalgia piece about Griddles. KFC, maybe, but Griddles? The typeface is horrible and fails a fair bit of acce

I think my concern is them paying a news outlet to release prepared bulletins without their own scrutiny and opinions. They cease to become news media and become a government trumpet.

I confess that did give me a surprise chuckle

It won’t when he’s looming over your bed at 3:00 a.m. with his silk cape brushing your forehead.

Given how genuinely flaccid and appalling the questions from proper journalists and news reporters at Manx Radio (subsidized by us) actually were what exactly were you expecting Get the Mongoose (which is largely a public relations company) to actually ask? Where all the secret bodies were buried? Is Ashford really 500 years old and sleeps in a casket of earth from his home land?

Fair enough. That's a good point. What is the point of press conferences and news in general if nobody applies any critical thought to anything. A sanguine and compliant society would make the government's job soooo much easier, and they really are having a hard time at the moment. Should we have a MF moratorium and cut them some slack maybe? #prayforhowie #prayforgef

So here's a thing. Today 29 July Gef has printed this article https://gefthemongoose.com/blog/gefs-guide-to-the-weird-and-wonderful-of-the-isle-of-man which is sponsored by the Isle of Mn government, as it says at the bottom.

Here is an article on Lovely Greens from October 2015 https://lovelygreens.com/the-other-mann-15-quirky-unusual-places-to-visit-on-the-isle-of-man/

Remarkable!!!!!

And forgets to include the Talking Mongoose!

Also which Castle Street? I can think of three.

You'd think if you're gong to copy an article, you'd put them in a different order at least.

Its not an exact copy...

It's also absolutely shit. I might have been chuffed with it if I'd written it as an English project in year 9.

@Declan and @slinkydevil The Lovely Greens piece is a paid for advertorial written by, or ghosted on behalf of, Claire Bettison ( as was - now Barber ), isn’t it? Who produced it originally?. Given Gef does PR for IoM Government have you thought about discounting plagiarism and just thought recycling?

I thought the Gef pandemic briefing pieces were the best at getting over what was said in fewest words. Everything else was TL.DR. Especially watching and listening to the live briefings.

I agree I found the language, chummy, hip, tone, and total lack of adequate proofing,  a bit childish. But it’s supposedly aimed at youngsters with, allegedly, short attention spans. Certainly better than some of the turgid stuff produced by our MSM

@John WrightI haven't alleged plagiarism. Bloody Boomers and their short attention spans.

But it is typical of you to support the horrid  briefing reports that Gef puked out. Equality and accessibility considerations don't count so long as it is snappy for the kids. How patronising.

Where’s the equality and accessibility considerations in producing a report.

I said I didn’t like the tone, that’s not being condescending by me.

But what other media source produced précis of the briefings? Is that supporting?

As I mentioned earlier, they were in all-capitals in an illegible font.

I accept they're not journalists and are web designers and PR guys but this is basic B-Tech level graphic design stuff.
