To be fair, you couldn't ask for higher levels of reliability than they've had out of the Ben for over 20 years. Major constraint has been the scant passenger facilities.

I was benchmarking it against the fastcraft.

But where’s all the polished mahogany and brass...shouted Uhtred from the 19th century.

Something will go wrong with the order, like it'll be too big to fit in the sea and they'll have to redesign it.

I think it was widely said at the time that new boats would be £70 million each. I certainly posted that on here. (or if you’re CalMac they’re £110 million each, smaller than the Ben/new boat, an

I see "Other" is in the lead in the naming poll at the moment. Bloody awful name for a boat.

I would have chosen Mona's Isle if it were an option.

Anything but Tynwald.

Well unless of course it runs massively over budget and behind schedule; proves finacially disastrous and generally unfit for purpose (apart from being a well paid source of employment for far too many crew, who are also largely unfit for purpose).

I think Manxman...as it is now owned by the Manx.

But they'll probably want to go for a neutral name...so Snaefell more likely.

'Manxperson' surely?

'Manxie', maybe.
