It was one of them that patted him on the ass outside the Shore Hotel in Gansey nearly forty years ago. Ronnie had only popped in for a lager on his way home from a job.

Talking about water skiers from the Shore. I knew Monty well once. I painted his house back in 1989. Proper fella him. Then he did a runner. Don't know what happened but he still owes me £200. I had to pay young David Cretney for all that near sell by paint and Monty never gave me a thing. He disappeared. I heard he died in Panama. I don't have Facebook.

Apart from all the other people he owed money to, everyone would say Monty Skinner was a loveable rogue.

Did a runner and left a pub full of free beer, 'on the house' (ie ultimately the brewery) for the customers.

I don't know anything about that. But I hate tribute acts and impressionists. The original Uncle Ronnie was great and his material was well written.

That Monty wasn’t a jouster. But he wasn’t a Manx fella either. A proper Manx fella would have paid for me time and materials before he did a runner. He still owes me £200. I heard he went to Panama on the brewery money. Alex Downie told me that down the Legion. And he’d know. He knows everything that fella. Proper clever bugger he is!
