Cannabis - Time for a re-think?

I knew a bloke, lived in Malta Road in London. There was a street light right outside his front door, about 6 or 7 feet away. He went out in the dead of night, lifted the 3 paving slabs on the pavement, hastily scoured-out a 2x2 inch trough underneath them, and laid a 4mm armoured cable from the base of the street light into his gaff and replaced the pavers. He already had his lights, heaters and extractors connected up in his massive loft and the next day, he donned a high-viz vest, put out some cones and warning tape around the lamppost, unlocked the panel on the base with his triangular gas meter-box key, swapped the 6amp mcb for a 32amp and terminated the cable from the tap-off in the base. All this while the feed was live. He replaced the base cover then collected up the warning cones and tape. He got away with it for a of couple years, no one noticed, not even when the local council turned up a couple of times to change the photo-cell and lamp. From that he grew a very agreeable ganja, it was a measly £80 an ounce in those days, a bit seedy and twiggy but a nice high just the same. He got caught in the end because his pissed-up neighbour reversed his Landy into the post giving it a 30degree tilt. Did 18 months in Brixton for his trouble.

i hope you learned your lesson.

I wonder how much of a disincentive IOM energy costs might be ?

you've seen the values  the IOM constabulary place on drugs,  even MEA prices can easily be swallowed up with those mark ups.

Dragging up an old thread, but, has anyone e else noticed how much weed is getting g smoked lately? Where are they getting it from?

Walk around Douglas or Peel and it is wafting out of windows and back yards.  Go for a walk or a bike ride and a couple of times everytime I am out I am either passed by or follow a vehicle with the distinctive smell wafting from the windows.

Surely the police smell this as well, so do we assume they are actually turning a blind eye and only use it as a reason to put people in court when they cant pin them down for something else?

I am pro legalisation BTW although I don't use it myself.

Yes noticed it myself a bit more recently, even when stuck behind a queue of cars or driving with the window open around town I tend to smell a bit of weed from whatever car/van in front, Police have never really cared unless a complaint is made or someone is generally being a dickhead. If a complaint is made of course they’ll act on it, they’d rather not though.

I think it’s the same with anything though it’s about being respectful, I’d rather someone openly have a joint with their window open then attempt to hotbox the room and stink an apartment block out (Spectrum Apartments anyone!?!)

The fact is that in the last year reports of not wearing a mask or not adequately distancing yourself from yourself in your own garden have been prioritized higher than openly being caught using recreational drugs in public.

So legalise it.

The stuff is everywhere, you can literally smell it most times you leave home. (or stay home, depending on your neighbours.  Mine appear quite partial)

Another chance for the island to be progressive and forward thinking - where we will ultimately follow after everyone else has done it.

Without getting into the ins and outs of legislation this Island wide smell of cannabis seems to have passed me by. Can’t smell anything around us (and I am aware of the particular smell)

Have been told its use here is widespread and is easily available, should I develop a wish to buy some I wouldn’t have a clue where to start.

Should I start hanging around street corners looking shifty and wait for some dodgy bloke to approach me and ask if I want “ some gear”?

Yep, that should do it.

Once you've found your first 'dealer' or they have found you depending on how you look at it, from then on it's a breeze. And without wanting to sound dramatic, you will never see the world in quite the same way again.

Genuinely surprised because I have smelled it many times when out and about over the last couple of weeks, and in all sorts of places.  Especially coming from passing vehicles with the windows down.

That’s like asking how to join the magic circle, if you genuinely want to try it then trust me you’d find a way, you certainly won’t find a how to or a map with a given location on the net.

If your a non smoker then try edibles or perhaps one of the CBD vape liquids, it’s relatively easy to get ones that have low levels of THC, at least then you can play innocent if caught and just say you ordered a legal CBD oil and didn’t read the ingredients.....

There is also one particular brand of rolling tobacco that smells particularly pungent and for the untrained nose could be confused with weed, i can only describe it as a mixture of sweet floral and damp earth type smell.

In Spain you are allowed to cultivate cannabis for personal use and I couldn't help noticing that aficionados carried theirs in a small baggie around the neck. Presumably to avoid being sussed.

However you are only permitted two plants per household thusly:
