I'm quite surprised they voted for written questions to be taken at anytime. This could massively backfire on them if Peter Karran decides to run again.

There are several current members who out question PK every sitting. Many of the questions could be dealt with by FOI requests. They could then publicise. The whole questions has become devalued by overuse and irrelevant grandstanding questions.

Seagulls springs to mind.

But Tynwald/Keys questions are usually quicker to get a reply than FoI and are less  likely to be obstructed[1].  Departments don't want their Ministers being embarrassed and follow-ups can be asked.  And a lot of questions are the equivalent of investigative journalism (often by proxy) where information can be put together from a number of answers.  You just wish sometimes that the actual media was as resourceful or used the results more.

Moorhouse actually performs the same function as Karran used to - The Idiot Who Will Ask Any Question That Someone Gives Him.  Though in Karran's case it was because no one else wanted to be seen to challenge the establishment.  But it's a useful democratic option in principle and sometimes produces useful information if only by accident.  And the rest provides us with harmless amusement.

[1]  There are a few areas of government, notably the Police,  who are very prompt with FoI requests and clear about what they can and can't publish.  But there's also a lot of delay and refusals on spurious reasons.

And here I thought Josem had the monopoly on pandering to the nationalistic Facebook massive. Maybe you ought to wait until you're actually elected, Keeran lad, although that could be a very long time coming.

More pointless I would suggest.

So, the rationale appears to be, get into bed with a party in Scotland which is "abhorrent", because "England make rubber bullets and poor people". I'm not sure Keeran is really cut out for politics.

Scotland would be bankrupt within a few years of independence without Westminster bailing them out. UK have already said in any independence they can’t use £ as currency and either a euro or their own currency will quickly cause every thing very expensive.

They would also have their share of national debt which will be very large!!
