it’s the death throes of an event that is going to be the next in a long line of events that end having been fucked up having been used as some sort of civil servants meal ticket which they’ve over fed on. Like the hockey and football festivals, the rallies and everything else. The “maximum interference” and “minimal common sense” approach of the Manx civil service destroys everything it touches in the end.

Spot on , in addition to promoting events that fail they contrive to prevent events proposed/organised  by independent individuals , presumably because they hate to be embarrassed when , for example, a bunch of OAP motorcyclists successfully organise "Jurby Day" . However , credit where it's ,due Rob Callister ( he who presided over the destruction of the iconic scoreboard ) proposed that the same group should organise a 'motor cycle event' in the winter .

I hate the death fest but How The Actual Fkck do DFE think putting the senior race on a Saturday will increase visitor numbers beggars belief.

They say 65% of visitors have left by a normal senior day on a Friday.

Do they in their world really think moving it forward a day will make people stay?

People come to the TT for the "Atmosphere" and fair enough they do, the actual slaughter is secondary

Moving the Senior race day forward will have zero effect and I would think it will screw up the hotel sector by having a week and a bit wanted by some fans if they do want to stay.

It will be because DfE think that they can compete with MotoGP, WSB and quite possibly Premiership football TV coverage by staging it on a weekend. Revenue is everything, there's a Govt black hole that requires filling.

Notwithstanding (as posted above) that everything else they've ever stuck their carcinogenic fingers into either no longer exists or is in decline with the long-standing organisers walking away in disillusionment. To include now the Post TT meeting organisers, their event goes the same way as those listed above.

It should be remembered that none of these DfE individuals carries any personal risk for their failures. After they've finished destroying the Island's traditional draws, you and I will still be paying their wages and pensions.

Yes because the next Bernie Ecclestone will doubtlessly be someone who earns £45K a year at the DfE whose last job in the private sector was delivering newspapers when they were 12.

Listened to Dr Allinson on the radio this morning trying to make excuses for the changes in the 2023 TT programme  they obviously haven't thought this through ,  the new  programme will  have a major effect on  the supporting events  held during TT fortnight , Peel event on Mad  Sunday was developing really well , as was all the traditional owners clubs and vintage and classic events ,

its now all about having everything at the grandstand   drunken locals  in the fan zone  and the government trying to squeeze money  out of the food stalls and TT clothing sellers ,  and you only need a hint of rain on the Saturday and the Blue  Riband Senior  TT race ,the event of the week will be cancelled  , thats if they have enough marshals to stay over for it ,   and a lot of people including riders will be disappointed ,

It was Treasury who kicked the scoreboard proposal into touch, perhaps with good reason it could have been ridiculously expensive and way beyond what was required, who knows 🤫.

Well its not happening (scoreboard)  for this next year either and my honest opinion is it never will. Very sad but blame will lie totally at the feet of the muppets in charge in Motorsport and CS . Then you really will see the demise of tourism on IoM . Once the TT goes it will impact so many businesses and revenue streams.

Mr Transparent has never explained the case they took to Treasury for new scoreboards,  you would have thought they would have more than one option. The idiots in DfE and motorsport must have thought, if they knocked it down they could put anything to treasury and the outcry from the general public would get it through.

Given the outcry over the MGP changes it really is amazing how hellbent they seem to be to change the TT format. These people really are just dickheads looking for stuff to do.

They are dickheads trying to find ways of ensuring their PS pension liabilities get paid out at the time of calling. It would be interesting to find out precisely how many actually have any real connection to racing or the TT. I'm going to suggest none. Will anybody challenge that?
