TT 2022 ??

The NPM this morning interviews a MGP team member/mechanic, who calls the 2022 changes to the practice/race schedule ‘a catalogue of errors’, and thinks this will impact on rider and fan attendance. Having listened to the interview, it’s not going to be pleasant for Minister Hooperman or his flunkies in the Starship Enterprise. The interviewee makes various valid points and comparisons made between previous MGP/Festival of Motorcycling and the new format.

Isn't it the Manx Motorcycle Club who organise the MGP? They have been pretty clear why the event has had to be shortened.

Didn't the Manx Motorcycle  Club have  a gun held to their head ?  they were told what the  new schedule was going to be

responsibility  for this rests entirely with the motorsport division , who I feel are bringing about a demise  to all motorcycle racing events on the isle of Man ,

Just received an email from IOMTTMA ( 16th December 22)confirming that the directors of the IOM TTMA are folding the company on 31st December 22. without holding an EGM claiming that as they claim they cannot establish a full list of 'members' they cannot hold an EGM and are therefore winding up the company.

The TTMA ltd took over all of the assets of the IOMTTMA without consulting it's members following a  IOMTTMA  EGA which was adjourned as members had no information in relation to it's assets and liabilities .

At that meeting it was confirmed that the IOMTTMA had 230-400-600( ?)voting rights 'members' .

The TTMA ltd had two voting rights members and stated "because the current membership base (IOMTTMA) does not reflect the makeup of the association as a whole'🤣and ( the TTMA ltd with2 members with voting rights) would "enable all those people actively involved in delivering marshalling services to have a voice in it's running  rather than just a small number".

Oh and  "The new company ( TTMA ltd) and it's members will be ratified by the department"

Frankly is it any wonder that many local marshals/IOMTTMA members  are giving marshalling a swerve?

:flowers:

The TT and MGP or whatever they are called now have been assimilated into the "Borg IOM CS"

The final outcome of this is that both events end, watch the Star Trek Films ..................

Organisations taken over by force and bureaucracy always end.

It is the way of our island, our world, and the way of the universe.... 🙂

P.S. The IOM 2 day Trial said FU to the gov takeover and it goes from strength to strength..........

Did the organisers ever get to the bottom of the horrific incidents at 'Ago's Leap'?

Important that they do so in order to prevent a repeat at next year's 'festival'.

Enquiries still ongoing I think. It's coroner now not just organisers.

I was told that the reason for the changes were all to do with filming and selling to T.V.  apparently the T.V. stations were only interested in buying anything filmed on a Saturday as that when their audience figures justified the spend.   I don’t know if this is correct but it sounds feasible as this is the direction where focus seems to be heading.

Don't know but given that there have been 5 "off's" at Casey's including 2 fatals while I was marshalling there and the CoC/powers that be still refuse to accept that the installation of any fencing/ cushioning is necessary I wouldn't't be holding my breath.

Just saying

Just a little matter re 'Merchandising'. No contract has been awarded with regards TT2023 apparently so watch this space as not much time left to source goods from China. In fact think its to late already by a country mile. So if anythings happening expect a massive increase in cost of items.

The only thing that will increase the number of marshals and allow the MGP to be restored to the old format is the creation of a machine to turn back time. Marshals are getting older and natural wastage, not DfE will have the greatest impact on future availability.
I have watched several video reports from the NEC Motorcycle Live show this year and noted the amount of grey hair on display. Motorcycling is, for a number of reasons, largely a hobby for the more mature. Young people are not being attracted to devote their time to marshalling an event enjoyed primarily by their elders.
The problem with enthusiasts is that they are enthusiastic about what they know and tend to be unenthusiastic about anything that changes what they like. Hence they don’t react to changes in the environment and their hobby becomes a legacy activity. I suspect there are a few people within MMCC who can see the writing on the wall and are seeking to extend the life of the MGP a little further than would otherwise be expected.
