I understand that certain things cannot just be changed, but the island as a whole needs too stand tall and voice its frustration as one very loud voice.

We've been shouting from the rooftops for years!

I have been driving along the prom twice a day this week and it is honestly in my opinion worse now than when it was "broken"

Totally , a friend has two businesses down there and he's always very optimistic but he's now at the end of his tether tbh. One shop is just about inaccessable and very little parking while the other

But just imagine if they weren’t. Just imagine that we all came together, without ego or agendas, and came together to create a space as described. Imagine the joy of those who built it and and joy of

We know that, it seems that our DoI don't unfortunately. Short of sabotaging them or getting violent, there's little we can do other than keep pointing out their follies in the hope that someone is listening!

could you explain how to sabotage something that is already broken beyond use please ?

What about the bomb sites on Lake Road & Summerland? The corner of Circular Road (opposite the Brown Bobby), Well Road Hill and Finch Road, Market Street? And where would all of those displaced cars go? Active travel.

Latest musings, he's absolutely right. Perhaps the owners of derelict sites should pay punitive rates after two or three years of dereliction, or sell to a genuine developer?

Your now having a laugh - genuine developer!!!!! Hahahaha. We have Manx dreamers, Manx Mafia or the usual Manx vested interests. If they were interested, it would have been developed. The Good times have flown, interest rates are at rock bottom but still no signs of development. Now the bad times are here, no one will develop and if anyone does show an interest, watch all the vested interests and busybodies spring into action. Tynpotwald, DBC, Chamber of Horrors etc, will soon add their two pennerth, still you can always trust the Starship Enterprise to give us a laugh - handouts, grants and blind eyes turned and yet the sites will be empty and derelict.

Douglas Borough Council would certainly be shelling out a sum to themselves on that basis.

I feel like this latest steam of (un)consciousness is a likely prelude to his attempt at becoming DBC Clown in Chief when the elections come around.

I wonder what Christian would do?

I've mentioned it before, but David Christian has been leader of DBC for nearly 20 years, and on the council for 30. How hasn't Douglas thrown him out, he's obviously completely rubbish

Don’t give planning permission to developers on green field sites unless they address brown field sites.

With an added rider, that they do indeed assist in the first rung housing ladder, not merely use that as a lever to get planning for concreting over green fields, and then are too expensive for first timers and finish up as rentals.

It is clear, that any site the developers don't get their own way in terms of planning on, or due to a shift in circumstances can't make huge profits on, is left derelict. That needs addressing, either by the use of existing legislation or by caveat upon purchase. However here the tail wags the dog!

If they had any sense DBC would use this as an opportunity to start tidying up some of the properties that have been laying to waste around Douglas. Any developer that wants to build new properties has to agree to refurbish some of the bad ones around.
