The whole place looks run down and unloved. Starts with the cover of the walkway into the terminal that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1987 and ends with being left standing in the rain because no taxis are queuing there anymore, only pre-booked. Bad first impression for any visitors.

They've just spent a lot of money restoring it after it was used for the (totally unnecessary) vaccine hub as well.  Presumably putting the ingrained dirt back doesn't come cheap.

The London plane service from here remains a very bad joke and is now a big hindrance for anyone going to/from London to work. Looking at Jersey arrivals today, 3 from Heathrow, 2 from Gatwick, 1 from Luton: and Guernsey has 4 from Gatwick. We just have the Easy Jet cattle truck to Gatwick going at inconvenient times. But it is encouraging competition apparently.

BA are pulling the plug on Gatwick short haul - apart from Manchester.

Will be interesting to see what they do, if anything, about the Channel Islands services

Well  BA JER is to LHR currently so no need to do anything short term until Heathrow fills up  more.

The problem the IOM has is how to get better timed, more reliable services to London to suit business and connections without cheesing off the vocal cheap price, don’t care what time of day brigade and get it without costing the taxpayer lots of cash.

Heathrow to Jersey was set to continue up to the end of March 2022 and then switch back to Gatwick. Now BA.COM is showing no Jersey to Heathrow or Gatwick flights after 9th March 2022.

I take any airline schedule issued in the current environment as being best guess only. Look how Ezy put double daily flights on sale for this winter to LGW earlier this month and then withdrew them a few days later

They've probably not gone any further than March because they simply don't know or can't guess what the PAX volume is likely to be. In any case don't most airlines run their timetables March to October for their Summer timetables and October to March for their Winter Schedules?

BA used to issue flights in a rolling fashion about 11 months ahead.  They used to change a lot pre covid as services were finalised nearer the actual departure date and I imagine it will be much worse now going forward post covid.
The LCCs tended to do it in summer and winter batches.

Although the overall easyJet schedule for the Winter remains pretty poor, that have now added six extra flights each way over the half-term weekends. Fares currently below £30 each way. It's not a solution, but it suggests they are looking at forward bookings are willing to slot in extra capacity, where they can make it work (for themselves)!!

Dublin to Jersey 6 times a week!

Unfortunately we have decided to leave and go back to Ireland  (and no there is no boat in the morning back to Ireland!)

With no direct flights for over 18 months and 1 boat a week for a bout 6 weeks this year, it is just too much hassle. I used to work here during week and commute back.

Fair play to Jersey sorting out flights, hopefully IOM can do the same )-;

Transport to and from isolated communities is going to become a bigger issue over the next 30 years. It’s not just the carbon emissions, but the way the weather is going too. Winter disruption is already an issue, and with fewer flights to soak up the slack, it may have a significant impact on the long term sustainability of things.
