Josem is continuing to not win people over, he seems to be coming across as genuine as some Ratners jewellery. There’s a post on the IOM News & Politics Facebook site featuring a screenshot of Mr Josem’s page, depicting him volunteering to clean war graves. The poster has indicated she would rather see his policies rather than a sponsored post of his volunteer work, which smacks of bad taste. I’m inclined to agree, insincerity oozes from the man’s every pore.

Yeah I saw that and thought it was a horribly cynical PR stunt.

As requested, here's a huge volume of discussion of policy: https://michaeljosem.com/

Here's a link to a copy of my manifesto when I ran for Tynwald last year with further specifics on various policy issues: https://michaeljosem.com/douglas-south-manifesto-a-strong-voice-for-our-community/

There's literally hundreds of articles discussing various policies and issues above. In addition, you can enjoy various book reviews which give you a further idea of my thinking, and also pictures of cute alpacas over the years, and links to various other bits and pieces about me.

Okay but why is your meat in a dog bowl in that picture from Rate my Plate?

Easy to "volunteer" when you're being paid full time to do so.

But paid by whom?

Well, that's the million dollar question isn't it?

He has said he is employed full time by Manx Taxpayers Alliance Ltd. That's an Isle of Man registered company. It's purpose is something bland like 'Lobbying'.

It has 1 employee. So essentially the company has no purpose other than to pay Mr Josem to stand for Keys, 'volunteer' for lots of things and generally get his face seen in as many places as possible. All very noble and charitable I'm sure...

Where it gets interesting of course is when you pay your £15 at the Companies Registry and see who the co-director of Manx Taxpayer's Alliance Ltd is.

Mr Josem claims it is "illegal" for him to reveal his backer/s. That of course is utter nonsense. He refuses to name him/them because he doesn't want people to know.

I don't think he's standing on behalf of the Tax Payer's Alliance, I stand to be corrected but he would need to declare that?

To be fair, does it really matter if he is a lobbyist or whatever, he can do that off his own bat if he wanted to. As long as what he is lobbying for are genuine concerns, I can't really see what the issue is? Most of the issues he's raised are the same as discussed on here and he seems to do a bit of research on them, probably more than many people who are actually in the Keys!

I think he's one of those who throws himself into the community, I think he's pretty genuine but he does tend to do a lot of self promotion. Mind you, who else is going to do it?

He's standing as Lib Vannin I believe.

I am endorsed as the Liberal Vannin candidate for Douglas East.

Neither of my employers, the Manx TaxPayers' Alliance (where I am employed full-time) nor the Manx Cooperative Society (where I work ~4 hours a week) endorse candidates for political office as far as I know these days. That said, when the Manx Cooperative Society was founded around 100 years ago, there are reports that it was closely associated with the Manx Labour Party.
