Peter Karran not saying, well there's a first.

Unfornately "Redraw constituencies for the House of Keys to provide equal representation for all voters" happened and part of Onchan was placed into Garff. One must be careful for what one wishes and who it upsets. No wonder Mr Willers didn't stand in Garff.

Does it matter though that they are in Garff and not Onchan?.

For local dog shit problems they contact the commissioners and for more national problems their MHK.

It seems a non issue to me.

Depends on who you talk to.

I know someone very vocal on the so called non issue.

He says if he is a Garff constituent, he should pay Garff rates,

which I believe are lower than Onchans.

What do they think of Rob Callister then, seeing as Abbeylands is apparently in Garff.

I have never asked them about Callister, More their views on Perkins and Caine,

which the usual answer is "Who", even after five years, which isn't bad if your standing for re-election.

But surely rates are a local authority issue being a local authority tax (the broad rules are obviously set by central government). The constituency,  and the name of it, they are in is irrelevant.

I am sure voters in Middle don’t all pay the same rates and no doubt the same applies in others too. Maybe some in Douglas constituencies pay Braddan rates.

Perhaps they should start a campaign to get their area moved from Onchan to Garff commissioners.

The education hustings was toe-curling. Julie Edge worked in a school and was pretty well informed, but the rest were clueless. It's no wonder our education system has problems when this calibre of person is being elected and allowed to set its budget, priorities and review systems. The board system, where people with a special interest in, or knowledge of education were directly elected was much better.
