Where is all the pound sterling that is getting laundered coming from? I have been trying to get English notes for the last few months and nearly ever shop has manx only, guess they must be saving it for the English drug cartels!

Perhaps all the druggies use the airport ATM?  I wonder if that's yet another way they will have outed themselves over the past year?

Begs the question, why have you been trying to get English notes for the last few months?

Have you tried your own bank? Mine obliged whenever I went across before the travel restrictions came into play.

We don’t have English notes in as many tills as we don’t have any tourists, nor do we have half as many travelling locals bringing it back, but that isn’t how you wash dirty money anyway, perhaps your thinking of how people get rid of counterfeit cash by mistake.

I’m fairly sure the Sea Terminal and airport ATMs still only dispense sterling if that’s what your after.

But, the OC wanting to collect debts will not want Manx notes, that will stand out like the proverbial when they try to launder it in the UK.

I like to save a few quid for our trips away as my wife doesn't like using her cards, therefore if she wishes to buy lunch/dinner cash is the only option, and there is no banks in Peel hence why I try and pick up some sterling along the way. I sincerely hope this answer's your concerns.

She should use her cards like any normal person.

Guess it is down to choice, she can do what she wants and I would say she is normal, just does not want to be told how she can spend her money. If you still have cash lots of normal folk will still use it.

I never withdraw Manx notes, either. So it’s either the Sea Terminal or Airport ATM’s.

Its a habit, dating back to when I never knew from one week to the next whether I’d have to go to England to meet clients or other lawyers.

I always had an overnight bag packed, with change of clothes and toiletries bag, stashed in the car, and BoE notes in my wallet.

A habit I still maintain.

It's getting to the point in certain places that she will getting told.  As an example, i went to a place that was essentially a beer garden type place surrounded by various businesses selling ale and food.  The entire place was cashless.  Card only.

It's a generational thing too.  Old people obviously still have an affinity to cash. Young people don't.  Most of them are now paying by watch, phone or card.  The contact less limit has now been raised too.  So more and more purchases are getting quicker to make with a simple tap.

We are still a long way from being a cashless society but we are slowly (or perhaps not so slowly) heading that way.  I wonder how long?

Until we are a cashless society I am afraid my wife and many others will still maintain cash is king, I don't use cash myself and only if I am given cash that I throw in a jar for our trips away and I like it in English for that purpose. How many £millions worth of manx cash do you think is floating about under beds etc. I would bet that there is quite a bit stashed away.
