I would like someone who can put more than two words together in a sentence and not punctuate it with ‘erm’ ‘err’ ‘um’ AND have some sort of intelligence.

That’s both of those in the running then.

Sounds like you should have stood yourself.

So Barber and Heywood don't feel the need to consult with their constituents before choosing a CM. They don't even need to see his programme for government either. "Democracy in action" indeed.

Heywood hasn't even attended a keys meeting yet and  wants to be a King Maker already , hardly a decision based on past performance  and track record ,of which she has not been privy to,

What would be the point in that?  Loads of people wasting their time telling them loads of differing opinions most of which would be nonsense like “it should be a woman” when there have only ever been two credible candidates.

It would enable to candidate's programme for government to be published and discussed.

There may be little point, but when we're told we can't elect the CM directly it's because the MHK's will do it on our behalf. Heywood's manifesto doesn't say "I will support Dr Allinson for CM". If you ask a candidate they'll say "I don't know who's standing." They introduced an extra week to allow greater scrutiny of the CM manifestos, media, the PAG debate etc.

To be fair when I asked Juan Watterson about this he said that after knocking on every door in the constituency he would have a sense of what people want and would chose the candidate that best met that criteria. Heywood didn't even campaign in Port Erin who does she know what my priorities are?

The ability to email our MHK before the CM is chosen and say "I think you should vote for this guy" - even if they ignore you. It is only the tiniest crumb by which we can have a say in who leads the Government, who the COMIN are, and what their policies are.

This obsession with a CM is totally divisive, we don't need one! Who says that one elected politician should be senior to the other twenty three? We have a president who isn't elected publicly but by the previous administration, should he not take on proper duties? Why is Watterson taken out of the fray by his wig and dress also? The whole thing needs revision, its obsessive madness!

Well we have a system designed for party politics where the governing party is formed around the CM after the election. Either the independents form parties or we scrap the ministerial system or the election is of the CM remains an undemocratic farce.

We don't have a President, Tynwald does just like a golf club or the Rotary club do. Obviously, that role could be done by the Speaker in Tynwald and one of the members in Legco.

I don't think the Speaker is out of the fray, just playing a different role within it. Maybe there's an alternative?

We loved to be ruled by our "betters".

People forget that Cannan has never achieved anything or that his psuedo furlough schemes plunged many people into poverty in 2020.

Allinson to his endless credit advanced the rights of the women of Island massively with his abortion reform act.

If JW is serious about modernising Tynwald then ceremonial robes and wigs, and morning prayers should be the first to go.

And secondly, dust off Lord Lisvane’s report.
