Ham_N_Eggs
Just now, pongo said: The IOM Govt did a good job of handling the pandemic. Nobody had trained for that. They locked down late (against advice); they failed to listen to advice again about testing at the borders leading to the second outbreak; the psuedo furlough scheme was implemented late and didn't offer adequate support; they didn't check up what the Steam Packet were doing leading to the third outbreak, they blamed the Packet for their failure; Abbotswood; and then they gave up 4 weeks too early when they should have waited for more people to be vaccinated. The Manx public did a fantastic job and CoMin claimed it as their own. Back to Howie... Seriously what has he been up to?

2112
Off a tangent, just been watching Sky News, they were interviewing the Former Jersey Chief Minister, now External Affairs, Ian Gorst. It related to a potential French blockade of St Helier over fishing rights, and a possible disruption of power supplies. Ian Gorst - What a complete opposite to what the IOM has to offer. Able to handle the interview without having an errrrrrrrr ummmmmn moment or hissy fit, like a news conference. Obviously if he had media training, Jersey had its moneys worth. Can you imagine the likes of our politicos being interviewed……. on the national stage that is.

I can see the resemblance. Also think he looks like Crazy Frog’. He comes across as warm, caring and soothing Dr bedside manner, but underneath is his socialist tendencies itching to get into action. Alf meanwhile so much promise but like everything done in the last 10 years he has shone and done nothing. Sandhurst Leadership? Captain Mainwaring? Not even Captain Pugwash I’m afraid. Allinson no better, both could have challenged whilst in Treasury and Education. Challenged themselves to keep quiet more like, think of the easy money and don’t rock the boat. An way £87,000 is on the way and a guaranteed gong, with Buck House visit.
SleepyJoe
What are these socialist tendencies - are they the ones that adopt the higher ambition pathway to net zero and put an end to those 'parasitic inequalities'?
Roxanne
Yes, could see why that might make him less appealing as a CM. I listened to most of the debate yesterday on MR and the one huge takeaway was that Dr Allison allowed the interviewer to interject with questions and these questions were listened to and answered. Mr Cannan however barged through every question, raising his voice over the interviewer’s interjections to continue on his trajectory, not once coming back to the supplementary questions. This despite him stating numerous times that what was required in a CM was to be a listener. If that is his common practice then it doesn’t bode well for the future. 1

Tax the rich till the pips squeak. Tax the homeowner. Tax every resident in the home a la poll tax. Create more bureaucracy for employers. Create new regulations. Create new taxes.
