Something about explosives limits. Health and safety nanny state... Wonder how much wildlife that killed.

Presumably incidents like this you reckon they just died naturally on their way back from the "exposure to fireworks" testing centre? https://www.rspca.org.uk/-/news-cats-killed-dogs-spooked-and-horse-dies-due-to-fireworks 2

They might look like birds but it’s always wise to get some proof before taking things too far. Plus, a good bang is often exactly what they are looking for. Ramseyboi
The point of the thread was more about the way Port Erin are printing this. These are apparently quieter and I have seen lots of social media like “Great, Tommy doesn’t like fireworks so this will be great. Can’t wait to take him” So how quiet are these things? They can still be “low noise” and still scare the s**t out of Tommy who would still be better staying home. My gut feeling is they are going to cause more issues than they solve due to poor communication. Alternatively the picture they are using to advertise of a previous years display is going to turn out to be very misleading and this will be rubbish. Time will tell, but I think they are setting themselves up for a lot of hassle and annoyed people.

It may be really good, not in any way inferior to a noisy display and, as said above, there will be many people who will be grateful for the thoughtful consideration whether they are attending or not. Even if you are immune to having any sympathy for animals, both wild and domestic, surely you can see it as worth a try?

No, but sheep are. Lots of ewes have miscarriages due to fireworks. Horses bolt often injuring themselves. Cows are similarly affected. Chickens don't lay and sometimes die of stress. All so we can set off "bombs" to celebrate a terrorist! BAN THE BLOODY THINGS!

Agree completely, but they are not marketing it as giving a new solution a go, they are marketing it as a solution and I fear it will bite them on the arse. Non-Believer
Presumably there will still be "more traditional" displays around the Island to attend?

They are marketing it as low noise not as a potential solution to a problem that isn't identified, other than saying it is family friendly. Not sure what your point is, other than snarking at anyone trying something new.
