N3Wzk0nzum3r
I kind of agree with you in the sense that many can't afford the upkeep on the property and are just making enough to cover the mortgage. With all the homeowners struggling and barely able to afford that second home I think they would be much happier if they were to sell it, collect any equity they have, and relax.

Sadly it needs work as the police have played cops n robbers, and the riot squad and drug squads with dogs have all played in there. Not forgetting the fire service. It’s boarded up, along with the old Ballacloan School. Fairfield School is another derelict site, ex Salvation Army could be used. Government is as bad as anyone in not maintaining property. If converted and run properly it could also be used to house homeless, and perhaps a bail hostel. With a Warden, Concierge and 24/7 security and a close watch on who gained access, it may be a useful addition. The government should buy caines & the garage adjacent to site & demolish the whole site including demesne road school. Then redeveloped as sheltered/council flats for couples/singles

Between the nurses home, it’s carpark, the old Jane Crookall and Ballacloan school that’s a huge plot right in the centre of town. There is no chance of it happening, at least within the next 5 years. I spoke during the election campaign to Chris Thomas, and Ann Corlett regarding using the old Nurses quarters as a short term housing solution to the homeless issue. Ballacloan School was boarded up due to vandalism issues and is getting derelict as well as unsightly with its overgrown vegetation. The former Park Road School site is another mess, originally the plans were for mixed housing, LA, FTB and Sheltered Scheme. However, it is believed it is now marked as a new school to relocate Murray’s Road School. Again it won’t happen in this administrations lifetime, so it will carry on being a dumping ground for vehicles prior to auction.

The Bus Station was gifted to ‘local developers’ and will never ever get built upon. Like I have pointed out before, contrast this with the former Griddles/KFC site which is well on the way. They obviously have the money without the involvement of Government. Park Road, Demesne Road, Fairfield School sites. Summerland Site! These are in public ownership. Then you have the Albert Terrace Nursing Home site once the residents are moved to the new Glenside. I can’t see anything happening for at least another 5 years. Despite all the huff puff and bluster, I don’t think there is any money. If any interest is shown, you can also be assured that there will be intense interference, especially if there are proposing new homes. There are also sites in private ownership - Middlemarch, Villiers Square etc. Edited November 9, 2021 by 2112

I can imagine the quotes from building firms/developers to build on all these sites, with all the fancy eco toys. Astronomical, eye watering - a Manx premium as IOMG have money to waste will be incorporated into the figures.
Non-Believer
From memory, there's only 10% of that new bond available for "green" things - the rest is for servicing other ongoing liabilities?
