How much has the Government spent on this ridiculous scheme ?    I can see that 42 million melting like snow in a heatwave with nothing to show for it.

I'm sure it will find it's way into "right" pockets.

What they seem to be letting people do now is just submit receipts from B&Q or Haldanes etc and get half the money back on things like insulation. Which all they needed to do in the first place. You can’t get tradesmen interested in doing the work anyway and nobody is going to want to pay two or three times what a DIY job would cost to get a max of half the money back. Even the basic assumptions were stupid when the scheme is supposed to help people with no money be able to better insulate their homes.

Looks like we’re going for a consultant appointment again to advise how to do renewable energy so there’s a fair whack going!!

“Manx Utilities is seeking a procurement specialist to identify the best route to deliver 20MW of onshore renewable electricity on the Isle of Man, which provides the best value for money for the Isle of Man residents by 2026.

You might as well put out the signals to find Batman or Tony fucking Stark

Well these are the figures as at 30 September:

And also:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The Isle of Man Government has suspended new applications for Manx Home Energy Audits for the Green Living Grant Scheme from Friday 30th September at 5pm.
The grant element is unaffected for those who are already in receipt of, or booked to have, a Manx Home Energy Audit.

Technically I suspect the answer to "How much has the Government spent?"  Is "Nothing" as they still haven't paid out any of the grants.  But given how few have actually been approved after the programme has been around for a year and an average of (to be generous ) £3,000 for each.  I'd be very surprised to see the amount eventually given out hit even half a million.

Of course how much it will have cost to administer will be another issue.

I read somewhere that the nominal value of each inspection was £250 paid when (if) you draw down a grant. So if they’ve done 2,243 inspections that’s over £550,000 the DfE has spent to hand out £117,641 in grants. It’s literally crackers. The only people who have benefited are the surveyors and the civil servants.

And one of them are rumored to be up in court as a paedo in the next few weeks. The selection process for people who enter hundreds of peoples houses as part of their government job seems to have been very lacking.

Did anyone actually believe people would receive a penny from this (and other) government shams?

And other than paycheques for those "administering" the scheme?
