The closest wins a season ticket on the Monorail to the Felt Museum. 1

hissingsid
I think there will be crowds outside the event listening to the music with their tinnies at the ready. God help anyone staying at any of the hotels nearby. Perhaps that is why the sunken gardens have been run down they will be full of rubbish every morning. The police will have their hands full there is no doubt about that.

But if something that bad - and avoidable - couldn’t end it…

What I don't understand is why the Roads Traffic Unit have set themselves such an ambitious target. They appear to have set themselves up for guaranteed failure unless they are going to instigate some radical changes like a speed limit on the mountain for example. And even then there would probably be fatalities.
The Bastard
It's optimistic. As a former Policeman put it, wherever those thousands of motorcycles are, some will be involved in RTCs. It's just that for two weeks they're happening here, instead of in Nottingham, or Ulster or Hamburg.

Or to put it another way so many old bikers in one place, it's highly likely that several have just been caught with kiddipics and will take the cowards way out

Manx17
They know what they are letting themselves in for. I remember many moons ago as a youngster working for the Isle of Man farmers pet shop. Some of the riders would come in looking for dog tags, so they could be identified if they crashed. Tragic as it is, they must love it. It would be great if a few words from the police stopped deaths but it won’t .

It happens https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/motorsport-presenters-fatal-bike-crash-ruled-suicide/. You have to admit that TT fans as a demographic has a high population of 'emotionally stunted' types, you know the sort, those with a Thai / Phillipino wife (as they know their place), sad old men trying to act cool wearing elasticated jeans from M&S etc. TT really is a celebration of the emotionally stunted behaviours so inevitably means you will have these sorts of more extreme cases amongst you and when they do get caught rather than face up to the consequences they selfishly do some grand dramatic act.
