NO,  but swapping shit for shit still leaves you with shit.

The best thing that could happen to the island is a year or two of us under "special measures" like a failing hospital - I wont go there.

The island needs a gov reset and the CS wont let that happen as it is.

At what point does the Governor tell HMG that we are not fit to govern ourselves?

Must be getting close?

ETA. Imagine a similar situation in the UK with the head of the CS "retiring" after "that" or similar tribunal

Imagine the witch hunt the UK press would do including the TV news to chase Ashford or his UK equivalent out of office.

Why is is any different here?

People have done really shitty things (or not done things - ACTS OR OMISSIONS is the legal speak) that have 100% cost lives, they need emptying.

If I had a close relative that had died in the first wave, I would be looking for a meeting with at least one MHK, one on one with no minutes taken like they favour. Grantham would do as a place to have the meeting................

Give over 😂 your namesake broke his own law and that didn't change anything...

But you're forgetting 'the package'.  Special arrangements can always be made for the right people.

But his departure at this stage does puzzle me.  The whole thing had his fingers all over it, but there wasn't much proof and others are more in the firing line.  Maybe it provides a good excuse to do nothing else (can't reform the civil service when there's no one at the top) or maybe Cannan just wants to replace him with his own candidate and is using it as an excuse.

Any package can not change terms of pension schemes which have published rules which are governed by the trustees, the Chairman of PSPS Is independent. Payoff’s from public funds are a different matter!

Just in time for the Queens Jubilee extra day off. Maybe we should have a street party to mark his departure? The architect of the IOMs insane early covid response amongst everything else. Hopefully Cannan won’t just stop there. He needs to cut the head off the bad culture not just replace like for like. It’s good to see things happening though and let’s see what Cannan has to say tomorrow. Ashford still needs to go from Comin.

At least he's got his experience in genomics and coding to fall back on.

And he knows how to operate a shredder. Essential job requirement for an IoM gov. employee.

In other news it appears that the DHA have failed to appoint a successor to Gary Roberts.

Doubtless he will humbly stay on. Having spoken to a number of former colleagues this weekend all is not well in that organisation either.

Really !  If true this is nonesense, didn't the same happen when he (sorry DHA) tried to fill a Deputy Chief position?  How inconvienent for the incumbent.  However, he will doubtless step up to the plate as a gesture of good will.  What egos and rubbish these people spin.  i understand he was involved in the process - therein lies the issue.

A bit like with Longworth in the DOI? Retired but still doing the role?

Ashford to go tomorrow according to talk in the Prospect earlier.

He should, but I would be surprised.  Greenhow has taken the hit.  No doubt Uriah Heep Ashford, after much cloying and an obundance of 'Sir's' and 'with respect',  has confidently told Alf there is nothing else to cause him or Alf an  issue, we will see.

Given what Greenhow has "overseen" during his tenure, one might suspect that Ashygate is the final nail in the coffin.

Frankly, his reign has been one long story of repeated examples of incompetence and sleaze for this Island. The place needs a new outlook - as in a NEW outlook, not more of the same groomed up to replace.

Much of government started going wrong around the turn of the century which is when Greenhow first moved here. The background in civil defense was clearly the basic format for the bronze, silver, gold escalation process covered in the tribunal and a lot of the initial paranoid pandemic responses right at the start like the Mount Murray Covid Colditz and the general implementation of a Chinese-style military system of overt population control are straight out of the civil defense handbook. Some advice.

And for this reason, he should not be allowed to resign. He should be held accountable then sacked... Sorry, I forgot where I was...
