I am aware this is the UK legislation, I would imagine the IoM statute is very similar.  Are you suggesting a government minister actively break employment law?

Obviously she can’t, but if she did I think the small number of teachers who actually will strike would be surprised how much support she would get from the general public and a lot of their colleagues who are feeling bullied by the hobby union.

“Obviously she can’t, but if she did”???

Any progress on why higher wages fuel inflation?

details of offer & strike action, the Union not accepting offer have 600 members of which 400 voted in last ballot with c325 in favour of strike action so c52% which is hardly massive endorsement!!

Also NAUSWT haven’t put latest offer to members

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-63010102

82% of those re-balloted supported strike action

325 is not 52% of 600

Sloppy work. Must try harder. Please show your working out

When did it become possible to fire people for taking part in legally organised industrial action? Are you saying they should be fired for having the temerity to ask for a wage commensurate with what they had 10 years ago, or should they be fired for standing up to the government?

Sorry, I should have said make their positions redundant.

I'm saying they should be let go for acting like absolute clowns.

I think it is a stretch to say that many of the public and/or teachers would support the illegal sacking of employees because they are in a pay dispute. Have you been chatting to Jacob Rees-Mogg?

Redundancy should only be used where;

- all or part of an organisation is closing

- there is a reduction of work of a particular kind

- the work has changed location

Now which of the above would you care to suggest apply to your suggestion?

Arguably you could offer new terms and conditions and dismiss those that do t accept the new terms but that is not a good look (ask P&O) and can come at a significant cost in the form of settlement agreements.
