The disturbing bit is the way that the schools are supposed to try to deal with it an inclusive way. The kids in question either have mental health issues or they’re taking the piss. But rather than referring them to CAHMS or telling them that they’re taking the piss and to stop - they feel that they have to provide ‘safe spaces’ for these kids so that they feel included. It’s nonsense. If you’ve got mental health issues then you need to be referred to someone who can help you and if you’re taking the piss just stop and grow up. If it is mental health then they will be waiting a long time for help as 6 months waiting lists, most probably think it’s a bit of a laugh & should be put in detention

The Phantom
'Self' identifying. Sure, feel free to identify yourself as what ever you want. Just don't expect anyone else to identify you as anything but that weird kid we all knew when were growing up. 2

MR say they asked the question of the DESC, whether they were the origin of the FOI, who knows? AcousticallyChallenged
It really does feel like they’ve tried to make a click bait article out of asking “what’s your policy for children identifying as XYZ” “We don’t have one” The comments section has then gone: “Oh my god, these children are all pretending to be cats and dogs and it’s ludicrous” It sounds fit for the Daily Mail or the Mirror. 1

As with most of these FOIs somebody clearly thinks they know something. The department says in response that it has no policy, neither do they have any data on the number of people affected (or not affected). Now that usually means that either nobody is affected, or that they don’t really want to admit a problem exists so they have collated absolutely no information on it as they don’t want to be challenged on it. Itsmeee
If one of my kids said they identified as a dog I’d make them live in a kennel in the garden and see how long it lasted. And I wouldn’t let them on the couch. 2

Gizo
This is more to do with the American parent of the so called cat. The school is too afraid of some sort of litigation.

The parent may be American but this is not an American-type jurisdiction where this kind of nonsense is entertained in the courts.
