Here’s something to help climate change, can’t see MUA being supportive with their massive debts to be funded!!

A solar farm will never be 'up and running'. I do wish they would stop using that expression.

I cant understand why anyone would want to build a solar farm on some of the best agricultural land on the isle of Man  there is plenty of un productive and poor land  in government ownership  and you would think they would gift the land to the developer  by way of supporting the scheme , rather than giving cash grants

That's a very good point.

Just watching a news article tonight, UK electricity suppliers actually paying customers to switch off appliances and reduce consumption at peak times to take predicted stress off the National Grid in the event of an energy shortage scenario. Can't see the MUA doing that somehow 😂

Because dealing with Isle of Man Government involves dealing with Isle of Man Government.

I wonder how much is left of the 42 million ?    There will have been wages, NI, and no doubt the jobs Daphne’s little helpers have got involve a pension,   for what ?  What have they done up to now ?   Have they campaigned to reduce single use plastic bottles such as water bottles that they are still flogging in schools…unbelievably ?   The only thing that has been recorded was a picture of Daphne in Laxey surveying where the flooding was.    She has gone very, very quiet if you remember in the last parliament she was up and down like a Jack in the box with questions at every sitting….now nothing.   The silence is deafening and that is never, ever good.

Can our grid support 27MW of solar? It also produces most electricity when we need least - and export rates are a bit rubbish because nobody else needs the electricity then either. Wasn't there a few firms wanting to set these up in various places? They'll all want their money back - in spades - and who's input do you turn off when the supply exceeds demand?

I can't see it working.

Interesting. I lived in South Oz for a while, they've had a problem with wind farms overloading the system. And on those hot dry, still, days when everyone wants their ac units on....................

The solar farm will have battery storage. So will be fed into the grid when needed by MUA.

Seems a bit strange for a private company to want to build a solar plant on private land and expect the publicly owned power company to buy their electric.

Have contracts been signed that we aren't aware of?

What's strange? That's exactly how electricity started on the Isle of Man with a private companies supplying power.

If rumour is to be believed Cannan wants MUA to step away from power generation.

If rumour is to be believed, the GMP wants Cannan to step away from power.
