Newsdesk
There used to be a time when as long as they took away the dog poo and emptied your wheelie bins that was all people wanted. Now it seems that Douglas is even incapable of taking away peoples wheelie bins. https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/bin-change-not-communicated-well-enough-567171 How is it not even possible to communicate even the most basic of information when you changed things in the first place? Nobody wanted the two week pick ups in the first place and now it’s clear you can’t even manage that. Here’s an idea. Maybe a few Douglas Councillors could spend a bit less time constantly posting self-promoting shite on Twitter and Facebook and spend a bit more time making sure that the services they supposedly oversee for the ratepayers actually work? 3

Ha Ha. Yes and making deathly long and boring "what's wrong with the IOM" videos. Cant believe there isn't more anger about this latest barnpot idea. 2

Max Power
I have no idea on the sequence of collections in my area, made worse by the fact that everyone has to put their bins at the end of the lane because the binmen can't be bothered to wheel them down there and put them back outside the correct houses! Result, the poor bugger at the end of the lane has stinking bins outside his house for up to two weeks! Not thought through at all in my opinion, I may make a rates adjustment in April! 1 1

At least our German friend generally has something lucid and sensible to say. That angry jumped up w@nkshaft will just be Josem II with a load of pointless Facebook friends crawling up his hoop online but a proper Billy No Mates in real life. Twitch
Doesn't DBC employ some kind of communications partner? Surely they have been involved in the process. Or not, as things have turned out.

According to that article: A spokesperson for the council said in response: ‘It’s been advertised extensively in all the mainstream media, editorials and interviews in the newspaper, radio stations and local magazines. There have been leaflets delivered to Douglas residents, stands at local events such as Douglas Fun Day and the Food and Drink Festival, and an extensive social media campaign.’ The question is whether it has been targeted correctly and whether it has been specific enough, reiterating to residents how they personally will be affected. It's no good telling people that there will be some sort of change happening sometime, they need to know what they have to do themselves. Clearly there should have have been leaflets delivered every street saying how there collections would now take place. It has long seemed to me that the more government go on about 'communication' and the more 'professionals' they employ to do it, the less good at actually passing on information they become. 3

Literally all they had to do when they emptied peoples bins the last normal time was leave a sticker on the bin or put a flyer through your letterbox saying when it would next be taken away. No doubt though the communications team spunked a budget on a load of ads clearly nobody saw.
manxfisherman
Quote ‘As you will no doubt be aware, the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial express route through your star system, and regrettably your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you.’ ‘There’s no point acting all surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display in your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for fifty of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now.’

They’ll probably have set up a communications focus group with at least 4 people on it, then researched a load of great platforms that they needed to push content into, and then maybe bought some external marketing resources in too in order to ensure that so many ratepayers had absolutely no idea what day the bins were being taken on. No leaflets delivered to my house, didn’t go to fun day or food and drink festival to get one either. Why couldn’t they just put a leaflet under the bin handle like they used to about CHRISTMAS and NY collections , or send out another card with collection dates on it?
