Non-Believer
Was there ever any expansion on the reasons behind Crookall's departure from DfE previously? Other than he "couldn't work with the Government"? Strange how he can now, one might wonder what's changed? And how the "Motorist's Champion" will get on in the DOI.... I said I wouldn't take a position in a department for at least a year and didn't, but I hope I can now do more in the DoI tent than as a critic outside it. And the understanding from the outset is that I WILL be a champion for everyone who pays road tax and is getting sidelined in favour of shiny 'schemes'. I know its a poisoned chalice but as a recent poster said, you either moan about problems or you roll your sleeves up and try to help solve them. 7

This is about building a consensus...and you've built no alliance. You've swallowed the king's shilling. The very same excuses you complained others used for years.

As far as I know, there’s no extra money for MHKs being departmental members, so your King’s shilling argument doesn’t apply. I for one hope Stu can bring a voice of common sense to the DOI and their seemingly nonsensical schemes. It’s not going to be easy due to the ingrained behaviors. Give him a chance - criticise in a year if the rubbish continues. 4

No, it's been rebranded as VED or RFL to suit the current mood. Fact is, 95% of us call it Road Tax. 3
