Oh dear god no!... LOL Can you see the DoI cutting down hundreds of trees to put up the lights*. And just as the multi- milion pound project comes to a close after 5 years petrol sales are banned and the eco loons win a court case to protect the moths. Half the sailings get lost in the great Irish Sea windfarm maze and have to turn back. And when they finally do get it to work, it is only by shutting off power to the rest of the island users (apart from essentials like the bars, takeaways and hospital) only to find there isn't enough left over to charge the EV ambulances and road closed car. *On the plus side free firewood for all... but only after they built a wood drying kiln which means it would no longer be free. My bet is by 2035, it'll become a bicyle race coz of 'muh net zero'.

There was a tender process. How is a UK firm supplying and selling in IoM worse than a Manx firm sourcing in China and selling in IoM? 4 1

Well for one thing, assuming it's a profitable venture, the resident shareholders and employees of the Manx firm would be paying their taxes here. Did the tender process take this into account? At one time there was a 10% weighting in favour of local suppliers for government tenders. Not sure if it still applies or if it was swept away under some EU inspired level playing field stupidity. 1

September last year. I know Motorsport Consortium didn’t participate in the tender for commercial reasons. Did any Manx entity submit a tender. Looks as if there’ll be lots of IoM commercial involvement. With Tax, NI, rent, and employment. We will be looking to work collaboratively alongside the Isle of Man’s business and retail community and will be visiting the Isle of Man shortly to meet with local retailers who are interested in stocking TT merchandise ahead of this year’s event. "In addition, we are also recruiting locally for staff to work on the event and will be offering training programmes for people to develop sports industry retail experience." Merchandise will also be available for people to purchase online at iomttraces.com and in retail concessions at the TT Grandstand and Nobles Park throughout the TT fortnight. 1
Albert Tatlock
They'll likely struggle to get staff for TT IMO. Unless they offer something all year round for some event management graduate or something...alongside other work. Q1. Your event management degree is useful for driving what? A. Are you really that naive? or just being an apologist again? That statement by the winning tenderer above in quotes is pure 100% bullshit that any company will, and always does, write into any tender you go for, in any type of business. It is virtually word for word what we use when tendering for works in the UK and supplying stuff to the IOM, and Channel Islands.

Non-Believer
Motorsport Merchandise was at least a Manx concern, working from full-time Manx premises, employing Manx people with those numbers increasing for the busiest periods. That meant local employment with the arising tax take and the appropriate business rates payable. Other concerns benefited too, such as the PO from MM's mail order side. Cube will employ how many locals for how long?

This will be just like when they did that deal with Chatta to push Bushy’s off the Bottle Neck carpark. In six months you’ll have a merchandising company wondering why nobody wants their merchandise for the ‘greatest show on earth’ they’ve been sold by the DfE and why no other retailer wants to stock their t-shirts and other TT tat. Then they’ll be picking up the phone to Roy Wilson and seeing what can be done to save TT 2024s they’ve only sold 4 hats and 10 jackets. It has disaster written all over it. 0bserver
I think you're all being overly negative about this deal. It's a massive improvement on the previous one because: All garments will be made using environmentally friendly fabrics such as sustainable cotton. All the garments will be manufactured in the UK meaning no long shipping journeys from China - all those carbons saved. The staff working in the factories will be paid living wage or above, meaning no Chinese sweatshops And this is all thanks to our government being ethical and a biosphere. 1 2
