Why make hard decisions now when we can just advocate Peter Pan policies of building out 100s of new homes that would take the best part of a decade to come to fruition (even with the will and funding)? An elderly relative moved out of a 3 bedroom house in port Erin , 9 months ago it was in excellent state with fairly new carpets, blinds etc so someone could have moved in. It’s still empty as is the one next door which has been empty for 15 months!! I know of at least 6 others in port Erin all empty for at least 6 months. Then Joney Fargher has voted against it (as Labour Leader) because if they upped the limits the lists would become even bigger. That's what she said on the Phil Gawnio Show. They lobby really hard for the 'plan' to be zoned for housing, they know then that they will get their way via planning as it's harder to raise objections !. Douglas Council used to announce the empty properties and show long they have been empty at each monthly full Council meeting.
