TheTeapot
The BBC seems to be having a bit of a moment. Gary won't back down for almost calling the government nazis so they've cancelled him and they've decided not to broadcast an Attenborough show apparently because it lays down some truths that would be upsetting to fascists or something That's 'national treasure' David Attenborough ffs.. Meanwhile Thursdays question time seemingly had Fiona Bruce saying its fine to break your wifes nose if you only do it once. It seems like everyone has gone completely bonkers. 1
HeliX
Feeling pretty good about being BBC-less for the last ~10 years or so now. Fuck the BBC. 3
TheTeapot
The BBC allow Stuart Maconie to broadcast The Freak Zone on a Sunday night, so they're not all bad. Every single week it is great. Twitter is reasonably entertaining right now, they're getting pelted.
Shake me up Judy
The BBC had no choice with Lineker. They are the national broadcaster, funded by the licence payer, and he's their highest paid presenter - of football. A million and a half quid of taxpayers money every year. He can be forgiven for being a fool and talking bollocks, but when he compares government policy to the Nazis then he's clearly overstepped the line. He shouldn't lose his job over it but he needs to grow up.
genericUserName
The UK govt's approach to asylum and immigration is a cynical Trumpish attempt to appeal to the sort of knuckle-draggers who, they fear, may otherwise vote for the Reform Party. Gary Linekar is 100% correct to call them out using the very strongest language. Let's hope that all of football stands behind him. The BBC pulling episodes of David Attenborough for speaking the truth about climate change is equally worrying.

If you're forbidden from drawing a (fairly reasonable, actually) parallel between the Govt's language around refugees and the Nazi's use of language around Jewish people, i.e. attempts to "other" them, then surely that's fairly dangerous...

Best case scenario their obvious tactic backfires and decent middle-of-the-road conservatives and the middle-classes in general lend their support to Starmer instead. snowman
Free speech is ok so long as you agree with the Tories apparently. The BBC were ok employing Andrew Neill while working on the spectator. Also said nothing when Sugar tweeted this

He's been cancelled because this government are hellbent on destroying the BBC and have stuffed it's management full of their pals. It wouldn't surprise me if they destroyed the BBC before they're kicked out. One last bit of vandalism.

Weird, I thought he said "immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s" but apparently he must've said "We're doing to immigrants what Hitler did to the Jewish people" based on your complaint.
