Beckett
Not heard this on the radio or seen it in the press, but the banners and posters are up! Anyone know why? Wonder what will go there instead? A nice large retail space to take over!!
The Old Git
I though this decision had been made months ago? Or is that Index? Or are they both the same thing? Mission
Both the same aren't they? It's a huge space to fill, can't imagine who'd be up for taking that on tbh.
Nitro
Hopefully Argos!
TerryMcCann
Littlewoods was taken over by Primark which stated they would convert the Littlewoods stores in areas where there was not already a Primark store. Whether this applies to the IOM who knows. Personally I'd rather there was a store that had stuff in for people under 70 years old. And an Argos too. Beckett
Littlewoods owned index, but it was only index that was sold to Argos. Where index was seperate from Littlewoods, Argos would take over the store. Where index was in a Littlewoods store, Littlewoods would expand to fill the space (which has been the case for the past 4 months on the Isle of Man). Most bizare. Some great high-street names we still desperatly need over here.

Wonder what will go there instead? A nice large retail space to take over!! Has anyone here ever bought anything from Littlewoods? Or Index? They are both crap and offer nothing for those who aren't Chavs or over 70. Last I heard though Littlewoods were merging their stores with Index (same company) which they've been doing for a while in the UK. Argos would be better for the island. More choice. Better prices. Beckett
Interesting thought? Blatantly obvious more like! Virgin megastore BHS TK Maxx H&M Primark Starbucks McDonalds (not a personal choice) Burger King (see above) Cafe Nero Argos Oasis Dixons Waterstones Blackwells Debenhams Sadly the list goes on and on! And bigger shops wouldn't go amiss, such as HMV, Woolworths, Topshop/man (oh god please someone sort out Topshop!)

And bigger shops wouldn't go amiss, such as HMV, Woolworths, Topshop/man (oh god please someone sort out Topshop!) Cafe Nero is great. Much better than Costa Coffee but I have to say that 'Spill the Beans', if it's still there is great though. Starbucks are the devil and would put other coffee shops and tearooms out of business. They also produce shite coffee. Burger King would be good. The island has a McD's already doesn't it? Why in god's name would anyone want to shop at BHS? Waterstones are great but Ottackers is better although it would be better if their store size was increased. Also how about M&S Simply Food, Millies Cookies and Pizza Express? Beckett
Millie's and Pizza Express would be welcome additions in Douglas. As with M&S Life Stores, I think the new Chief Exec Stuart Rose is having the Simply Food outlets shut down (dumb ass). TerryMcCann
Dixons would be great. Instant destruction of the rip off merchants at Waltons and Coleburns. Currys would be even better as they sell white goods too. I'd have previously agreed with the Burger King suggestion but the standard of their food is not what it once was

When Skies Are Grey
Yeah just what we need...a bunch a faceless corporate megalomaniacs covering more of the planet. How about encouraging local firms to be more competetive and provide something a little different (at least in the food side of things anyway). Having said that...BK doubles...yum yum.
