New Words That Need Meanings

We used to use a word quite a few years ago, which I think should go in the dictionary. Verb: Tarshal

Tarshal means to strip the head off a screw, so that you have to drill it out or use a much bigger screwdriver to unscrew it etc.

e.g. 'This screw has been tarshalled', and 'if you use the wrong screwdriver you will tarshal that screw'.

I still use the word, but no-one knows what I'm on about.

[Forum] "Troll" - not a new word... but no one on here seems to know what it refers to exactly. Be interested to see an actual definition for this one.

I would add people who post questions on internet forums when two minutes googling would provide a plethora of answers.

Unproach.

The act of walking along a pavement at a slightly faster pace than the person in front of you, then realising that you know that person slightly, well enough to say hello to, and then slowing down slightly to avoid an embarrassing overtaking manouevre which would involve walking along together side by side for a few seconds, making awkward chit chat, and then slowly pulling away from them, which might appear rude.

On a similar theme, I use the word Happle. It's from Douglas Adam s Meaning of Liff. There is a whole series of words about aproaching someone (in a corridor) you are not ure if you know or not. Very funny.

A mate and I did one for Manx place names. I will have to see if I have still got it :)
