Mission Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I know there's that place in Santon that does it but I also heard that you can do this up North - Blue Point / Smeale area - does anyone know if this is true and whom I should contact? TIA. NB: Edited to correct mis-spelt title
manxman8180 Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 There certainly is a range around the Blue Point area, but I don't know whether it's a permanent 'base' for a club. If you ring the guy in Santon, I'm sure he will fill you in TBH. I do know from my last visit there, that all of the guys visit the various other sites for comps etc. Might be of some use.

Tempus Fugit Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 What have clay pidgeons ever done to you?
Cret Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I believe there is also a place out at Meary Veg or Meary Vooar. John Quilliam at Santon will be able to give you the lowdown though - top man he is.
Cliff Hazard Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 John Quilliam at Santon will be able to give you the lowdown though - top man he is. he sure is, total manxie and mad as a bag of burgers to boot. It's worth going there just for him.
Bombay Bad Boy Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 What have clay pidgeons ever done to you? Car's revenge (Note. No vehicles were harmed making this film)
Mission Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 I'd re-read some of your own posts before criticising others for their spelling.
Mr. Sausages Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Pidgeons and hampsters. These are the two most commonly mis-spelled animals. The most commonly eaten animal is the cow, while the most common animal is the beetle, sometimes incorrectly spelled "beatle". Although all of this is probably true, I have in fact made it up.
scoobe Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Blue Point Ayre Clay Pigeon Shooting Club Its a lovely spot for shooting, and they are very friendly and knowledgeable. Guests are welcome, and you can borrow a club gun. Chairman of the club is one of the commonwealth medal winners, so they know their stuff.
Mission Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 Excellent - just what I needed - thanks scoobe.
Tugger Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Got to add my seal of approval for John Quilliam at Santon. What a character he is. Seems to know everyone who ever lived on the island, too
mbx Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 bazzar_iom is a member of the club at Smeale so you could pm him for more info. I went as a guest during TT when my father in law came over, and he said the setup they have there is excellent (he's a good shooter, and knows about these things). certainly worth have a go.
