Having a bit of Crack in Macau

Now that is the type of headline that I would expect Big "H" to attract in Macau :P

Only joking about H he really is a big softie and a very good friend of mine

I'm not an avid m/c bike fan but watched the Macau m/c gp on tv for the first time last night but must say I was not impressed by the coverage. It was so boring I put it on fast forward through parts of it !.

Most of the time there were 4 bikes going round and round armco, walls and fencing, not once did I see any spectators or grandstands, rarely got a glimpse of an orange-clad marshal. There was just no atmosphere.

The commentary was mainly concerned with what the riders had done elsewhere, but I suppose with a breakaway group of 4 bikes there is little else to talk about as they were mainly in the same running order for most of the race, and there was no attempt to show any of the action further down the order.

It would not encourage me to visit the place for the racing (compared with the coverage of the TT or some of the F1) and I don't think I will bother watching again.

For a greenlight production, I think they have got very set in their ways and need a good shake-up, it reminded me of the BHP rally films of 40 years ago where they seemed to use the same script and cutting order (and monotonous voice-over) every year crying.gif

I think anyone who goes there to watch must either have seen another side of the event or are just nuts !

I have been before and to be honest it is not that exciting to watch. The viewing areas are restricted to about 3 large grandstands around the circuit - try and watch anywhere else and the over-zealous local police will chase you away. It is certainly not like the TT where there are loads of places to watch from.

That said I am glad I went, Macau has to be experienced to be believed, although I would't hurry back there - once is enough.
