Stu Peters Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 I know some of you folks enjoy this when it's broadcast, so I've asked Roy McMc (the producer) if I could post an open invitation to the next recording. He thought it a fine idea. Actually, it would be nice to meet some of you regular posters there anyway! The next edition of The Headlines Again is being recorded at 7.00 (slightly earlier than usual) on Wednesday in the Trafalgar pub in Douglas; and if you are able to come down and support, there will be beer and laughter and everyone will be happy*. * Please note - beer is supplied subject to availability and must be purchased by those wishing to drink it; there is no guarantee that any of the jokes in THA 7 will make anyone laugh; and moods can go down as well as up. Observer Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Ooohh.... a challenge! Can we wear balaclava's or ladies tights over our heads??
FCMR Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 I went to the one held at the Old Folks Club, got me gut busted, it was so funny. If you aint been before make the effort, its a scream.
Ean Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 If you're that way inclined obs i'm sure they won't object.
Stu Peters Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 Hi Zephyr: Sorry - but I don't think even the cast knows until the night itself what will be in the final script. I've submitted stuff for most episodes to date, but only ever got one short sketch performed (even though my scripts are all MUCH funnier than what usually goes out - honest!). So if you've submitted any poems or scripts, don't be at all upset if they don't make it, just keep sending them in. The other thing to be aware of is that they might record something but then drop it in the final edit. I only missed the one recording (despite the regular pain of artistic rejection) at the Old Friends - as it's a great excuse for a drink and some free entertainment. Say hello if you come along. I'll know Obs is the one looking like a bank robber...
zephyr Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 I might just take a sight down, I've only put in two pieces, fingers crossed then.
Observer Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Sounds like fun! Though must admit I am currently rethinking the attire, having inadvertently given away the identity of the only sad nutter resembling a stick 'em up type robber.
Ripsaw Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Previous recordings were in the Audio Vault on the Manx Radio website. I can not see them now Stu, you said "THA 7", when were 4,5,& 6? Any chance of them all being made available online again (or a current link if I'm just being dumb).
Declan Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 grrrrrr bloody politicians and media types get everywhere - they are even infiltrating the pub!
Stu Peters Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 Ripsaw - just a guess, but I think with the sheer amount of spoken word programming the station puts out these days, there's probably a limit on how long something stays on the website. But I'll certainly ask the question for you. Or maybe Roy is hoping to release a boxed SACD set in time for Christmas... he's really picky about lossy compression algorithms. And maybe episodes 4-6 are still with the lawyers? Nah - I'm sure I've been there at least 5 times...
Ripsaw Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 So, is anyone going tonight? (7pm @ the Traff) I'm going to pop down and would like to say "Hi" to anyone who is willing to speak back
oogie boogie Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 go to go over to the douglas to pick some gear up so i might drop in on my way back.
Observer Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 I am attending and will be in a cunning civilian disguise.
