I posted this at manxonline. But I have since found better links.

http://www.ubu.com/sound/burroughs.htmlcontains a great selection of recordings of Burroughs reading extracts from his work.

The first 15 are Real Audio links - you can download the actual Real Files at http://www.epc.buffalo.edu/sound/mp3/ra/burroughs/ - and convert them to mp3 or cd using your favorite method. The rest are mp3s. Start with the mp3s unless you are looking for obscure recordings.

"What Washington, What Orders (1974)" is a good one to start with IMO. It seems to be a recording of him practicing or working through the piece. Since he cuts and repeats several times.

I very much recommend "The Fish Poison Con" which is at http://www.jotpuree.com/~apd/music/Call%20Me%20Burroughs/ - and elsewhere. It's a very nice piece of writing. And "Bradley The Buyer".

Burrough's often disgusting and druggy caustic wit isn't to everyone's taste. Many of these recording used to be sold as booleg tapes during the 1970s and 1980s. They were also massively sampled or re worked by various bands (Tackhead, Soft Machine, Psychic TV, Bill Laswell, Kurt Cobain, The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Jesus & Mary Chain, Gary Clail, Mark Stewart, Tom Waits etc )

If you find that you start to enjoy these recordings then go to Google. Because there are many good Burroughs recordings available to download.
