lisner Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Someone recommended this book to me recently and I'm finding it very interesting with some useful insights into Manx politics over the years. I've been wanting to get round to reading it for a couple of years and the quiet Christmas period was ideal. Has anyone else on the forum read it?
WilDDog Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I didn't even know it existed to be honest. How much was it?
ste1205 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 It costs about £15.00. It's quite an interesting read if you are interested in local history. I have copy if you would like to borrow it. I didn't even know it existed to be honest. How much was it?
WilDDog Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Thanks for the offer Ste but I haven't got the time for reading at the moment, way too busy.
lisner Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 I don't generally have time for reading books but this one I am enjoying. You Northern chaps would be particularly interested in the book. You will know the places mentioned. eg Ballacarmel..(!)..although I was glad to read a fuller account rather than what man down pub told me. The copy I have is borrowed from the library. CK gets/got a lot of stick at times but there is little doubt that he worked hard for the Island.
Major Chip Hazzard Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 If you're from 'down' the north it's a good read, but the southerners might be find it a bit of a drag. I found I was getting a bit fed up about 3/4 way through, and I was glad I only borrowed it.
