Tea&Biscuits Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Picked this book up at the weekend, the most bizaare story I have read in a while and I am only on chapter 3!! Based around a boy called Lee Cotton who's Father was an Icelandic sailor and Mother was a black woman from a town called Eureka! The thing is, Lee comes out pure white, blond hair, blue eyes, straight skin, but his soul and heritage is black! this is in 1950s segregated south too so you can imagine the problems he faces - the story gets even more bizaare apparantly but am just reading it slowly as it is soooo good! The story is told from the protaganists voice so you get inside his mind - he also has the gift of being able to hear dead people!!! Such a brilliant writer - cant believe i havent come accross him before, his other books are Mischief and The Wurd. Will check them out! I love it when i stumble accross a writer that "lights" me up as it were! I actually have been laughing out loud on the train reading this book!!! Refreshing! http://www.complete-review.com/reviews/wilsonc/cotton.htm Link of Lee Cotton review.....(be warned it is quite detailed, so dont read if you like to read in suspense!)
