Sandworms Of Dune

Yes would agree it probably is an age thing. I got into Sci Fi by picking up old paperbacks from the classic authors. Asimov and the others were my introduction.

Couldn't get into Donaldson but read the Juilan May series Saga of Pliocene Exile.

I think I've said it elsewhere on MF but Simmons ( and the Shrike which is inspired ) in the Hyperion series is excellent. If you haven't read it already, his Terrors is a very good read.

Read some of Reynolds, Baxter and Macleod as well, pretty enjoyable.

Having said that, the one thing that always puts me on 'caution' is when I pick up a new book and it says comparable to Frank Herberts Dune - on the blurb on the back.

Still you can't judge a book by its covers.
